"Neon Cyberpunk Tower Mayhem: My Addictive First Session with Merge Tower Defense on Cur8 Games"

Just had a little session playing MTD (Merge Tower Defense) on Cur8 Games and man is this a great twist on a classic. From the moment that 'Elite Defense Force' loading screen popped off I knew I was in for a fight. Visually the graphics are awesome; there's something really cool about the neon-cyberpunk design of everything as every laser beam and blast seems to just jump out at you against the black grid.

The actual game play mechanics is where things really get fun. Instead of just placing a tower down and having it automatically do its thing you're constantly going to have to think about resources as well as placement. You have different tower types including a Basic, Rapid, Sniper, and Splash type. While I was going through it I was leaning on the Splash towers to knock down some of the larger groups of initial waves of creeps but as the wave became more difficult I started to notice I was lacking in precision.

For my most recent game session, I was able to beat wave 1 but that was pretty easy, the creeps started coming on much faster after that and by wave 2 things were really flying by. I had 3 kills and a score of 90 before the 'Game Over' screen popped up. The game seems simple to pick up but has a high level of difficulty and control involved in it, I think the primary issue I ran into was the use of your Coins and your Energy. As you play, you have Energy to use and collect additional Coin, which you use to buy and merge more towers.

I ran out of speed to continue after that round (I had 69 energy left) and the next round just beat me. 54 seconds of gameplay yielded a score of 90; that sounds like so little time but felt like an accomplishment still for the +1.02 XP that it earned me. Next time I'm playing, I need to be mindful of the requirement for "Platform Coins" for to continue, I had 10 left and needed 20 so I had to hit Retry rather than Push to wave 2 with 3 enemies remaining. This is quite addicting and after I died I want to play again immediately.
