Students protests against the revision of their Student Handbook.

see this rather not a freedom of speech but a protest from students who intend to think they know better than what the institution believes. Unfortunately, this form of tradition has been notorious among what you call "students of the new generation".

I tweeted this on the day I saw it and I thought of why not share it here in the community and talk my opinion about this manner.

These students from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines were throwing their shirts from the sixth floor of their main building to protesting against their Student Handbook Revision. The revision includes changing the dress code, pushing for mandatory drug testing and raising the maintaining GWA (general weighted average).

It was posted 5th of August and garnered different reactions from netizens. Of course, some may see nothing wrong about it but most have seen it as an unreasonable act of public speaking.

You see, college students from the Philippines are often dominant to protest against anything that they deemed inappropriate. It could probably because of different propaganda influenced other youths to join their movement and further their agendas.

Maybe Fraternities and Sororities also comes in and contributes to protests as such. Universities in Manila were known to have those. I can't tell whether they were good or bad of an organization since I haven't encountered one, but this kind of massive movement is possibly being lead by these.

One netizen said: "If you don't agree with your school, then get out."

It may sound rude but that person makes perfect sense. Why would you stay in a place were you oppose their ideals in the first place? I know some of you may have raised their brows but it is what is. We are not in the same place as those who are in position at the organization to just say; ''Hey, we don't like that." If we are like that, we're missing out respect.

Although there may be reasons as to why they oppose the revision, I can't see any better reason why would you not accept such a change coming from the institution itself. We have freedom, and freedom of speech has become an excuse for years now. Though we all have freedom, there are still rules that exist to abide by us and guide us to what we should follow. That applies to anyone.

Given this situation, the institution should be absolute about its rules and regulations and students should understand these changes. This unreasonable act or manner should be condemned by the university as it could probably stain their credibility.

There may be more about this story but this is me expressing my opinion. Nothing is wrong about expressing yourself through protests, but this manner is far too excessive. If one of the goals includes attracting the public's attention then it is effective however it makes you look absurd. So, your thoughts?
