Day 941 (Daily Post)

in #off-grid7 years ago

Day 941. It is a rather overcast morning but hopefully it will clear up soon and will turn into a pseudo-sunny day because I once again fell asleep early and forgot to unplug my netbook charger and it depleted my good battery overnight. Thankfully I woke up at some point in the wee hours of the morning and shut it off before it could drop the battery's voltage below ten and a half volts but I pretty much wasted all the electricity I had generated and stored in that battery from the last few sunny days.

After yesterday's activities I was once again pretty wiped out by the end of the day but at least I am making really good progress with lining things up for moving.

I am also getting a better visual picture of just how much stuff I will need to fit into the moving truck and although I was previously thinking to just get a twenty-five foot truck and moving everything at one time I am now unsure about everything actually fitting so I have been considering just getting a sixteen foot truck and making two trips with it instead which would kind of balance out cost wise because the smaller truck is a little cheaper to rent and that might offset the extra mileage by making two trips.

Mainly my potted plants, flower pots, building materials, water barrels, wagons, concrete mixer, three hundred and thirty gallon water tank and fencing materials just take up too much room and no matter how much tetris I play with it all in my head I cannot see all of it and the rest of my gear fitting in a twenty-five foot truck. I even started drawing everything out trying to find ways to make it fit but that has been rather futile.

Anyway I will figure it all out one way or another in regards to moving everything and I am actually glad that I have acquired the stuff that I have during my stay here because it sure is going to make things much easier at the next place. Just having that twenty-five foot camper is going to make things easier because I will at least have plenty of good storage right from the start which is something that I have never quite had at my current location.

All things considered I am rather excited about getting to know a new property, exploring it's environs, learning the lay of the land, learning the flora and fauna and everything else involved in 'starting fresh' somewhere. Another thing that really excites me is the prospect of just camping out at first while I get things setup for building a little homestead area inside the larger homestead of the place itself. There is nothing quite like the motivation of living in a tent to compel me to construct something more solid to live in especially as the weather gets colder.

The big thing that I keep reminding myself is that this next phase of things needs to start off as a hiatus so I can decompress from my journey here and write until it is all 'out of my system' and not to get too over involved with new projects and deprive myself of having enough time to just relax a bit and 'soak it all in.' We will see how all that works out but I am going to do my best to pace myself and make time for writing, relaxation, enjoyment and mayhaps even having some fun.

Well that is enough tedious phone typing for one morning and I better wrap this up and get on with my day because the pseudo-sunshine is burning/fizzling and I have another full day of work ahead of me.

I hope that everyone is doing well and has a nice day/night and I will most likely do the same.

This is my fundraiser to help me with moving expenses.

@jacobpeacock I am glad you have a place to move to. I was thinking of the wood-burning stove, I bet if you put an ad in the paper or other sources, you could get a 100 or more for it.

I am glad as well @myjob! As for the wood burning stove I have plans for it at the next place when I build that wood fired water heater that I drew up some plans for.

@jacobpeacock It will be nice for you to have hot water.
