A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE, SO MANY YEARS AGO, SO MUCH HAS CHANGED.

in #life7 years ago (edited)

I had a super busy day yesterday sorting my garden out, usually the day after i suffer with a lot of pain so planned to stay and rest all day, seemingly hubby had other ideas, I woke up ready to have a lazy day, he was off out shopping with his mum, i usually go but with having chronic pain i have to wait until the day to decide what to do. Hubby asked me to try and come as he wanted to spend the day out with me, we don't spend a lot of time doing things together. I made the effort, got up dressed and went shopping with him and his mum. I knew i would suffer after but it would be worth it to at least keep him happy. I can relax all day Sunday.

We always go for a coffee and a snack when we go out but since i haven't been out of the house i wanted to go somewhere nice to eat instead of the Supermarket cafe, We decided to pop into the village cafe where i grew up. We started off at Bon Appettite for Coffee and a snack, this cafe used to be the village off licence when i was 18. My friends parents used to run it with them living above it. So many memories here.

I love driving through the village as i have some lovely memories here, its where i worked and spent my free time wither hanging out with friends in the youth club or driving around in my friends car.

The village is small but has a lot of houses, there are a lot of gorgeous big houses here, something i could never afford to live in, we lived in the Council street, the only one in the Village. I started working at the village Supermarket when i was 17, it was the best job, had so much fun there. I started when Laws owned it then WM LOW took over until Asda opened down the road which closed our little supermarket down.

THEN

Driving past the old building brought back lots of lovely memories. It is now a kindergarten but still has the windows above where the staff room, kitchen and locker rooms.

We left the cafe then went onto the Asda Supermarket, its the same Asda that closed my little supermarket down 33 years ago.

We then drove past the Church hall where i spent hours hanging out with friends, this was our youth club where we would play pool, darts or just sit and talk. This holds a lot of great memories and fun times. we had heard that the hall had been damaged with someone stealing a taxi then driving it into the hall, the front was smashed.

They are busy repairing the damage, there is scaffolding holding the walls up, i hope they don't change it to much as its a big part of the village with it being part of the village Church.

Its been a good day, i have enjoyed my day out with a trip down memory lane remembering all the fun times i had, remembering my old friends, some that are still here others that i have lost but still memories in my head, old boyfriends, parties, etc. I spent most of my time in the village, any reason to get out of the house.

I am now home, shopping put away but all my memories still going through my mind, thinking about the people i knew and the times that made me smile.

ITS HARD TO BELIEVE I USED TO BE 18, WHERE DID THE YEARS GO.
