No-fun Acrylic on Paper, Back To Oil, and Then Some Loose Canvas

Well, the mineral spirits were fogging my brain so I vowed to start the week in acrylic. I pushed through one, but it was a miserable affair. Not only am I out of practice in the medium, but this paper I’m using bumps with the water based paints. So I switched to oils, promised to use thinner sparingly, if at all, and then ran out of paper. I ripped 18 loose canvases, 20 x 24" each, and had at a few before I could get to the store for more paper. Which I did, happily. I prefer using acrylic on the canvas, and the oils on paper.
I have a free art pick up this week. A person is coming to my studio to get it. I’ll do a Camden Market Free Art Man-type interview (@jompiy), and then think on where I want this Free Art Frees Art to go for me. Making 20,000 paintings will not be cheap. I figure about 1-2 dollars per painting. Possibly 40 grand. That is actually doable over the course of 20 years. But c’mon, I should be able to afford supplies and also get a sandwich every month or two:)
It’ll work out. I just need to think on it some more.

I have been giving away my paintings all year. The money number is what it costs me to make an 18 x 24" oil painting.
Just curious: For what is it you use the mineral spirits that much? The oil painters in my group use sunflower oil or any kitchen oil to save their brushes in, as long as they are painting. They all state the brushes remain good and are clean. Only if they stop painting they use something else to clean them and if cheaper brushes are used they throw them away. I am the only one using oilpaint mixable with water. So the brushes are cleaned with water.
I wonder if the oilpaint itself isn't the problem too.
I never saw paper bumping using acrylics, neither cardboard, thise parts of boxes. After all those years (over ten by now) it still looks good. The same counts for what is used to paint on papier-mâché. I never bought the most expensive acrylic paint. I wonder how you used it to paint and about your type of paper.
$1-2 for one painting? If you ask me it costs more.
