My Actifit Report Card: August 16 2019
The best laid plans of mice and men
Well my Plan this morning was to head straight to the office for an early Video Conference and to focus on getting things done since I was out of the office yesterday, I was up early so decided t catchy eh early train and got to the office at about 6:45.
When I realized I had left my Work ID card/building pass at home
So plans quickly changed as I could not get a temporary pass for the day till the pass office opened at 8AM, so I ended up going for a walk to fill in the time, sure there were benches near to the office and I could have sat there and waited, and did consider it but sitting in one spot for 5 minutes is a challenge for me let alone waiting for over an hour, so even though my plan for today was a total step count for the day of around 7500 steps this unplanned walk mean I had over 9 K by the time the Pass office opened. I did get 10K steps in before 10Am, but then not a lot for the rest of the day
For this evenings acifit post I share some photos taken with my iPhone.
On my Walk I past by this restaurant and thought the sign was kind of cool, not sure why i think that but here it is

Now is it just me that when you walk past a walled off construction site and they have these holes it into the walls I just have to peak in and see what is going on?

The days are starting to get shorter quickly seems only a couple of weeks ago the sunrise was at 5:30 not this morning it was at 6:08 and still some color in the sky but he time I got to the city this shot is looking up Park Ave

I have posted a shot of this sculpture/Swinging seat thingy before and mentioned i wonder if anyone ever sits on it, and this morning I saw someone sitting on it, but as I walked past someone that works in a building near it and maybe even that building, he said to me never think about sitting on it, they have seen on the cameras people doing all kinds of things on it during the night including Hmmm how to a put this, emptying their bladder on it and he suggested dont even go close to it unless you have no sense of smell.
I do not understand the thinking of people sometimes,

The area I work has offices for the Missions for many Countries in so I had the idea this morning to occasionally ( ie that means when I remember to get a shot of one)
Share a shot of a Countries flag and see how many know whose countries flag it is

And a last photo for today of the Deli where I have lunch almost every working day, they have a great selection to cover all tastes although most of the time I end up getting the same thing every day, food for me really is just something I have to do to have energy I am not a foodie at all that likes something different and fancy every day.

Man, I hate it when I forget my badge. I start before most of the office so I just chill by elevator till I can get a ride up. Maybe this will get me to take a walk next time. Great photos and nice step count. Take care
Ohh yeah that is a pain, when I was in the other buildings the overnight security Guards knew me so it wasnt a problem they would let me in, but being back in the main building thats not the case but any excuse for a walk is fine for me :)

Howdy JJ! What a great selection of photos! I really like that pizza joint sign too, it's very unique and interesting. It would be interesting to sit and watch people going by the construction sites with holes in the walls to see what percentage of people have to stop and look! I'd be curious.
That cool sculpture..people are just strange creatures. At least at night in NYC! I have no clue about the flag.
Now you have me curious I am terrible and standing still but I am now tempted to watch sometime, but then again if its as I suspect and very few people are as nosy as I am and find no one else does it LOL

lol..if you wait around for awhile to watch and see if anyone is curious enough to look through the holes in the wall and no one does then you'll be wondering about yourself!
I'd have to look through though, so at least there's two of us. Are the holes for passersby or for the construction people?
I did head to that spot today and watched for five minutes not one person looked through so I guess I am the weird one, WellI always knew i was weird so that doesn’t bother me. Of course I am not saying your weird LOL
As for why they are there I just looked it up, he goal of the panes(holes?view panels) is to transparency(pun intended): they allow building sites to be viewed from the outside by pedestrians and inspectors, so they can stay in the know about what’s being built. And can report any safety violation they see.
So the likes of you and me looking in are not being nosy or weird, just doing our bit to ensure everything is safe :)

I was going to add a flag to each days actifit post on work days but since only you seemed to notice it I may skip hat idea and just do what I was doing
Howdy JJ! No one looked through the viewing panels! lol. Well I guess people are just too occupied and probably most of them are on their phones or looking at them while they walk. That's very interesting about why they are put there though, a city statute obviously. Hey great minds think alike!
I thought the flag idea is an interesting one but since no one even mentioned it except me I guess I'd scrap it too. What are your plans for after the hardfork, are you going to post less like most people say they're going to?

Howdy tonight jj! I'm not sure what I will do after the hardfork either, but that's a good point about people not posting, that would mean that those of us who are will have more attention. I don't know if that will help though, no one seems to know!
I bet people in the city walk around looking down at their phones but I bet you don't do you?

As for walking with my phone remember I am a dinosaur so I seldom do, but I am a modern dinosaur I wear an apple watch so it a notification comes in I do peak at my watch to see if its something I need to stop and pull out my phone to check and or respond LOL

Good tip on that chair.... Note to self...never sit in the chair. My mom has one of those plants on her porch. The red and green leaved one. I like it a lot.
Well not being able to get into my office building helped with the steps LOL
And good thing that building worker told me about that I was considering waiting and trying out that chair, but that is something for sure I will pass on LOL
Sitting on that swinging chair sounds like sitting on a bench on State Street in Santa Barbara, California. We even saw someone taking pumice to the dry skin on his feet on one. Who knows what happens to them at night. I'll stand, thank you.
Yes sounds about the same I will never sit there and am kind of glad I seldom sit on any of the benches in the city and prefer walking ;)
