Pondering.

I came home after a weary day. My boss was not happy with me. He usually shouts at me and humiliates me. But the problem is not his attitude; the problem is my timid nature. I can never gather the courage to say no to him. He is ruthless, but I should not be timid. I am not his servant or slave. I am an employee in this company and so is he. He is not my employer.

I was thinking about all this while changing my clothes. I was in a rage. I couldn’t open my shirt button, so I jerked it and it broke. I kicked the furniture and even showed my anger to my wife. She thought I was humiliating her, so she started fighting with me. My night became a nightmare.

I couldn’t sleep properly. I kept pondering my situation. I mustered courage and prepared myself to confront my boss the next day. Then I finally slept.

The next day, when I reached the office, the boss called me in. He said, “I have some work. Only you can do it. It’s painful, but you can handle it.”

I wanted to say something else but the words wouldn’t come out. He exploits me this way. He praises me only when he needs someone to do the work everyone else hates. I work hard for him, but he gives incentives to his boot lickers. He ignores and humiliates me but hands me every kind of boring and painful task.

I wanted to tell him all this but then I remembered my loan EMIs and remembered my wife's face. I cannot afford to lose this job. So I simply said, “Alright, sir,” before leaving his cabin.

Thanks!

I wonder if your boss would really sack you since he needs someone doing the dirty work. How about saying: What is in it for me? Can't any bootlicker do this job?
