I met her through a social media post. She liked my comment, replied to it and that’s how our conversation began. At first, we chatted through the messenger app of the social media platform. Later, we started exchanging more personal messages. She always seemed happy to talk to me - at least that’s what I understood from her emojis and expressions.

One day, I asked if she could send me her photograph. She didn’t reply immediately. A few hours later she wrote that she would be happy to send it but she needed my email ID. I gave it to her without hesitation. She said she would send the photo soon.

Then her email arrived. The subject line was, “I am sending my photograph together with this mail.” The title felt a bit strange but I was curious to see her real face. I opened the email and clicked on the attached photograph of a beautiful girl.

Suddenly, my computer started showing strange error messages. The screen blinked several times and then went completely blank. I couldn't be able to start my computer since then.

She or he was a hacker. She had transmitted a virus through that link. She stole my credentials and soon I discovered that a large portion of my money had been transferred to a foreign account. My curiosity became my enemy.
