The Reflection That Watches

When Mrs. K decided to visit the Art Gallery, she realized she had mixed up the date of her favorite painter's exhibition. That week's featured artist was a complete stranger to her.

Still, she didn't lose heart and paid for her ticket, hoping to discover new talent. After all, every great artist once started out unknown.

Upon entering the exhibition hall, she came across a rather strange painting: in the middle of the canvas stood a glass of red wine. But the interesting part was that the true scene of the artwork was reflected inside the glass itself.

A man sat before a banquet, wearing a ridiculous ornament that served as a hat, staring fixedly at the viewer.

Original as the piece was, it left Mrs. K puzzled, for she couldn't quite grasp what the artist meant to convey with his work.

Suddenly she felt as though someone were watching her, and turning around, she found standing right in front of her the very same man portrayed inside the glass — looking at her with amusement, for he himself was still trying to understand his own work.
