Laufás, Iceland

in CCS3 days ago

QUite an interesting place.

We had a short stay there - they had a nice windowed place for coffee and sweets with awesome views, apart from the museum part.

Laufás heritage site.

Grass-roofed houses and church from 19th century offer insights into early Icelandic life.

Northern Iceland

Funny, I got more engineering thoughts when we were there.

This grass layer is good for thermal insulation, no doubt about it.

But how's the water insulation?

Doesn't all green die in the winter (I guess the roots survive)

Plant roots don't break the roofs?

...and so on, and so on...

Pardon me :D
