My story : Today was all about going out to find food and playing like kids do.
Hello, my lovely friends.
How are you all doing, my friends? I hope everyone is doing well these days. In Malaysia, the rain has decreased and the weather is getting warmer. Anyway, I hope everyone stays healthy and enjoys life. Today, I have another story about my daily life to share with you. Since it's school break, I get to go out more often. I go out to find food, find places for the kids to play, and also relax myself. My story begins this morning...
This morning I woke up at 6 a.m., so I wasn't in a hurry. I grabbed my phone and scrolled through the news and entertainment options, then got up to do some light housework. Later in the morning, the kids woke up. The first thing my husband asked the kids was what they wanted to eat, or if they wanted to go out for a meal. I may not be a very good cook, but the kids often take their dad out to eat, which is another benefit for me, as I get to eat out too. After we finished showering and getting dressed, at 11:00 a.m., we drove to our chosen location: a shrine with many restaurants inside. It was quite hot this morning, so there weren't many people around. When we arrived, there was still plenty of parking space.
Dry Noodles: As someone who loves noodles and perhaps has passed that love down to my children, dry noodles are our go-to dish. We actually eat at this restaurant quite often because it's not far from home and the food is usually to our liking. Today, we didn't order anything different; sometimes we might have the herbal soup, but today all four of us opted for dry noodles. The taste was different today; the chili seasoning, which is key to the flavor of this dry noodle dish, seemed spicier than usual. We even ordered two bottles of Coke! Eating spicy noodles followed by a cold Coke was incredibly refreshing and delicious.
Fried Bananas: After finishing our noodles, we drove home. Before stopping at home, we made sure to buy some fried bananas from a stall we'd passed many times but had never bought any food or snacks from before. Since we had the chance today, we wanted to try what they had to offer. They have many different types of fried bananas, from small to large pieces, with varying prices and flavors. Since I'm used to the small ones, I ordered them, and they didn't disappoint. They were a bit cold, so the batter wasn't as crispy, but the banana inside was sweet and delicious. The price was also very reasonable. I'll definitely buy from this stall again next time I have the chance.
Jackfruit with Sticky Rice: I forgot to mention that on the way back from the noodle shop, there's a fresh fruit stall selling jackfruit, both in its raw form and packaged processed form. That morning, before we went for noodles, I had prepared sticky rice thinking I'd eat it with papaya salad, but since the kids went out for noodles, I didn't make papaya salad. Also, I didn't have any ripe mangoes at home, so I chose jackfruit instead. Jackfruit goes well with sticky rice, giving a delicious sweet, creamy, and fragrant taste. However, it depends on how good the jackfruit is, because sometimes I think a certain color means it will be sweet and delicious, but when I buy it, it's actually bland. That's why I usually buy from this stall; they always get sweet jackfruit. When we got home, my daughter immediately started eating the packaged jackfruit, happily feeding it sticky rice. After finishing the jackfruit, we all went our separate ways to rest. The kids went to play, while I watched series, scrolled through my phone, and even dozed off for a while.
It's playtime! By 4:30 PM, I had finished preparing dinner. The children were happy to go to the playground; before that, they had been walking in front of the house with their father. After I finished cooking and tidied everything up, I took the children to the playground. My husband and I watched them from a distance. The atmosphere was quite nice today; the sun was casting a bright red glow. The reflections were beautiful, and I enjoyed watching the tiny butterflies fluttering around the wildflowers – it's their natural evening routine, and there were so many of them. I love this time of day the most, just relaxing and enjoying the small natural surroundings around our village. The children played for about an hour, after which it was time to go home to prepare for baths and dinner.
