Chasing the Top Leaderboard – Just a Game or Something More?

Sometimes I open a game just for time pass… nothing serious. Just click, play, close.
But today something different happened.
I was on games.cur8.fun, just randomly trying different games. No plan, no goal. Then I saw something — Leaderboard.
At first, I ignored it.
But then I went back.
Top players… scores going crazy high… names I don’t even know.
And suddenly, my mindset changed.
It was no longer “just a game”.
I started playing again. This time not for fun… but for position.
Strange feeling, honestly.
Every time my score increased, I checked again.
Still not on top.
Still far.
And that small thing… it started bothering me.
Why?
Because leaderboard is not just numbers.
It hits something inside you.
Competition. Ego. Curiosity.
You start asking yourself:
“Why not me?”
“Can I reach there?”
“What if I try one more time?”
I noticed something about myself today.
Even in a small browser game… I didn’t like being average.
And I think this is true for many of us.
We say we don’t care… but deep inside, we do.
But here is the real thought…
Those top players, maybe they spent hours.
Maybe days.
And I stopped for a second and asked myself:
“Is it really worth it?”
Because time is also a leaderboard.
Real life also has rankings… just not visible.
Skills
Consistency
Effort
Growth
These are also scores… but no one shows them on screen.
So I played a little more… but not like before.
Now I was aware.
It’s okay to enjoy.
It’s okay to compete.
But it’s not okay to lose your time without thinking.
I didn’t reach the top leaderboard today.
And maybe I won’t.
But I learned something small… and maybe important.
Not every leaderboard deserves your full energy.
Sometimes winning means…
knowing when to stop.
