Mein Musikgeschmack war eigentlich jahrelang ziemlich eindeutig. Deutscher Rock, die 80er und 90er, damit konnte ich immer etwas anfangen. Umso mehr wundert es mich selbst, was momentan bei uns läuft. Plötzlich sind da epische nordische Klänge, mächtige Trommeln, tiefe Männerstimmen, kräftige Frauenstimmen und natürlich ordentlich Bass. Irgendwie haben sich ein paar Wikinger in meine Playlist geschlichen. 😄⚔️ Und das wirklich Überraschende daran: Auch meiner Frau gefällt diese Musik. Damit hätte ich ehrlich gesagt überhaupt nicht gerechnet.

Dabei verstehe ich bei manchen Titeln kaum ein Wort. Normalerweise würde ich sagen, dass der Text bei Musik schon eine Rolle spielt, aber hier ist das irgendwie anders. Die Stimme wird fast selbst zu einem Instrument. Gerade die Mischung aus tiefen Männerstimmen und einer starken Frauenstimme, dazu die Trommeln und Chöre, erzeugt eine Stimmung, die mich teilweise richtig erwischt. Bei einigen Liedern bekomme ich tatsächlich Gänsehaut, obwohl ich nicht einmal genau weiß, worüber gerade gesungen wird. Ich verstehe vielleicht nicht jedes Wort, aber das Gefühl kommt trotzdem an.

Besonders schlimm – oder vielleicht besser gesagt besonders schön – wird es im Auto. 😄 Manche dieser Titel funktionieren für mich einfach nicht leise. Also wird aufgedreht und wenn der Bass aus den Boxen drückt, fühle ich mich für einen kurzen Moment wieder ein Stück jünger. Das erinnert mich an früher, als Musik nicht einfach nur im Hintergrund laufen durfte. Der Bass musste ordentlich drücken und man wollte ihn nicht nur hören, sondern auch spüren. Offenbar ist dieses Gefühl nie verschwunden. Es brauchte nur die richtige Musik, um es wieder hervorzuholen.

Das eigentlich Spannende daran ist aber, dass viele dieser Titel mit künstlicher Intelligenz entstanden sind. Anfangs fand ich den Gedanken schon etwas merkwürdig. Kann Musik, die mit einer KI erzeugt wurde, überhaupt die gleichen Emotionen auslösen? Für mich ist diese Frage inzwischen beantwortet. Wenn ich Gänsehaut bekomme, im Auto automatisch lauter drehe und ein Song etwas in mir auslöst, dann funktioniert die Musik für mich.

Und letztendlich darf man dabei eines nicht vergessen: Hinter so einem Stück steht trotzdem ein Mensch mit einer Idee. Jemand hat eine Vorstellung davon, wie etwas klingen soll, welche Stimmung entstehen soll oder welche Geschichte erzählt werden soll. Vielleicht kann dieser Mensch selbst nicht singen, vielleicht kann er kein Instrument spielen und hätte früher überhaupt keine Möglichkeit gehabt, seine musikalische Idee umzusetzen. Heute kann KI genau dafür ein Werkzeug sein. Natürlich übernimmt sie dabei einen gewaltigen Teil der eigentlichen Umsetzung, aber ohne eine Idee, Auswahl und Richtung entsteht daraus für mich noch lange kein persönliches Musikstück.

Vielleicht ist genau das eine der Seiten von KI, die ich spannend finde: Menschen bekommen plötzlich die Möglichkeit, etwas zu erschaffen, wozu ihnen vorher schlicht die Fähigkeiten oder Möglichkeiten gefehlt haben. Ich werde deshalb meinen deutschen Rock, die 80er und die 90er sicher nicht aus der Playlist werfen. Es ist einfach etwas Neues dazugekommen.

Und so wie es momentan aussieht, dürfen die Wikinger bleiben. 😄⚔️🔥

Suddenly Vikings in My Playlist

For years, my taste in music was pretty easy to describe. German rock, the 80s and 90s – that was the kind of music I always enjoyed. So I'm probably more surprised than anyone by what is playing at our place at the moment. Suddenly there are epic Nordic sounds, powerful drums, deep male voices, strong female vocals and, of course, plenty of bass. Somehow a few Vikings have managed to sneak into my playlist. 😄⚔️ And the really surprising part is that my wife likes this music too. I honestly didn't expect that.

With some of these songs, I hardly understand a single word. Normally I would say that lyrics are an important part of music, but here it somehow feels different. The voice almost becomes an instrument of its own. Especially the combination of deep male vocals, a powerful female voice, drums and choirs creates an atmosphere that really gets to me. Some songs actually give me goosebumps even though I couldn't tell you exactly what they are singing about. I may not understand every word, but I definitely understand the feeling.

I notice it most when I'm driving. Some of these songs simply don't work quietly for me. The volume goes up, the bass starts pushing through the speakers and for a brief moment I feel a little younger again. It reminds me of the days when music wasn't supposed to quietly play in the background. The bass had to hit hard and you didn't just want to hear it – you wanted to feel it. Apparently that feeling never really disappeared. It just needed the right music to bring it back.

What makes all of this even more interesting is that many of these songs were created with the help of artificial intelligence. At first, that idea felt a little strange to me. Can music created with AI really trigger the same emotions? For me, that question has now been answered. If a song gives me goosebumps, makes me turn up the volume in the car and actually makes me feel something, then the music works.

And there is something else we shouldn't forget. Behind a piece like this there is still a human being with an idea. Someone has an idea of how something should sound, what kind of atmosphere it should create or what kind of story it should tell. Maybe that person can't sing. Maybe they can't play an instrument and, in the past, would never have had the opportunity to turn their musical idea into an actual song. Today, AI can become a tool for exactly that. Of course, the technology can take over a huge part of the actual production, but for me there is still a difference between simply generating something and having an idea, choosing what works and giving it a direction.

Perhaps that's one of the things I find so fascinating about AI. People suddenly have the opportunity to create something they previously couldn't because they lacked the skills or the means to do it. That doesn't mean I'm going to throw German rock, the 80s or the 90s out of my playlist. Something new has simply joined them.

And judging by the way things are going, those Vikings are allowed to stay. 😄⚔️🔥
