SLC31-W1 || Our Surroundings A Series of Real Life Experiences ; Brickfields & Fuel Stations

Hello friends, I hope you are all well. For the first week of the Steemit Challenge contest, I will be sharing visit to Service zone. I would like to thank the organizers of this challenge, and without further delay, I am starting my participation.

What type of service location did you visit? Briefly describe it.

I have visited the Hakkani Refueling Station Unit 2 as a service location. Among the petrol pumps in the city that have earned a reputation for quality, Hakkani Station is one of the most prominent. As a customer myself, I have taken octane for my bike several times, and truth be told, their octane is significantly better than others.

Vehicles can get petrol, diesel, and octane here. Amidst the ongoing oil crisis in our country, where most petrol pumps are providing limited amounts of fuel, this petrol pump is providing the highest amount. Therefore, I am getting good facilities by taking fuel from here during this ongoing crisis, and their fuel quality is also good.

Operational history & Location (Steem Atlas pin)

I visited Unit 2 of the Hakkani Refueling Station, which is located in the Saraipara, Pahartali area. They have three units located within a short distance in nearby areas. Their service remains active 24 hours a day, and fuel can be taken from them at any time, any day of the week.

The Hakkani Group of Industries owns this pump; I do not have accurate information regarding exactly when this pump was built, but it is one of the oldest and most reputed pumps. Currently, during the oil crisis, they are helping customers by providing oil services according to the correct regulations.

It is located right next to the road. Although it is by the highway, its area is very large. It is situated in a location that is easily visible to vehicle drivers from both the north and south directions from a distance. There is enough space for many small and large vehicles to stand at the same time.

The structure of the pump has become somewhat old. Since hundreds of vehicles regularly come here to take fuel, and we know that black smoke is emitted from vehicles, this smoke has turned the pump's structure quite dark. However, putting the structure aside, their main product—the fuel—is top-notch.

Large vehicles like trucks can take diesel here. I like one particular system where they have kept a separate route for large vehicles like trucks and buses; since only those stand there, it doesn't cause much inconvenience for small vehicles like bikes and cars to take petrol.

Octane and petrol are available here for small vehicles like bikes, cars, and Hiace vans. Since fuel prices in our country are fixed by the government, that specific price is maintained here. Payment must be made in cash as there is no digital payment system. If desired, payment can be made without going to the cash counter.

Below, I am mentioning the prices of oil at the petrol pump:

Fuel NamePrice (BDT)Price (STEEM)
Octane120.0016.81
Petrol116.0016.25
Diesel100.0014.01

Many people are seen paying the worker who loads the fuel into the vehicle; he receives the money and provides change if necessary, so there is no need to go to the cash counter. Washroom facilities have been provided here for bus and truck drivers. So, considering all aspects, this is a high-quality refueling pump in my opinion.

Type of work & Workers’ lifestyle.

I have seen six workers working at this pump so far. Among them, four load fuel into the vehicles, and the remaining two receive payments at the cash counter. There are multiple refueling meters for petrol and diesel, and a worker is always loading diesel or petrol at these meters, so fuel can be loaded easily during normal times.

From what I have gathered about the workers, those who are fuel-loading staff have to perform duties for up to 10–12 hours. This pump is open 24 hours, so when one person's shift ends, another person's shift begins. There are separate staff for day and night. When the number of vehicles is high, they have to be at the refueling point constantly without any opportunity for rest.

In terms of salary, they are paid a medium-range salary. I have often noticed that they perform their duties while standing because vehicles arrive one after another, and their workload has increased further during the current oil crisis because there is always a serial line of vehicles at the pump. They are provided with an Eid bonus once a year and other holiday benefits.

Environmental impact & With pictures + videos.

Actually, while the fuel pump itself might not harm the environment, the vehicles coming here to take fuel do. If the adverse impact of the fuel pump on the environment needs to be mentioned, it has been visible for the past few days; because of the oil crisis in the country, vehicles form long serial lines at the pumps, and since the pump is by the highway, these fuel pumps have recently become the main cause of traffic jams.

In fact, these traffic jams are now seen at every fuel pump, sometimes spreading for several kilometers. However, I don't think the fuel pump has much to do here because fuel is not available at all pumps during this crisis. Therefore, wherever it is available, vehicles line up, and traffic jams occur. I hope the global situation improves soon and the fuel pumps can breathe a sigh of relief as before.
