My Diary - 24th July 2026* _A Self-Care Day: Making My Hair and Embracing Me-Time_

Hello good evening guys, it’s your girl again @blessedi 😊
Thank you for always stopping by to read my diary and for all the love and support. I truly don’t take it for granted.

Today started like every other day, but the vibe was different. It was happy and fun because today was all about me pampering myself. I decided to make my hair myself.

Morning Devotion and Responsibilities
As usual, I started my day with my morning devotion. Prayer and gratitude always come first for me because it keeps me grounded. After praying, I stepped outside to clean and arrange my surroundings. I also fed my grasscutters. Taking care of them has become part of me now. They remind me that responsibility doesn’t take a break, even on self-care days 😂

After that, I came back inside, took a refreshing shower, and went straight to the kitchen. I was craving something simple and filling, so I prepared beans. I ate it with garri and sat for a while to let it digest. There’s something comforting about eating a warm home-cooked meal in peace.

Hair Day: The Struggle and the Joy
After resting a bit, I went out to loosen my hair. My edges are always giving me issues, as usual. They’re never as neat as I want them to be, but I’ve learned to work with what I have.

I brought out my big mirror so I could see clearly what I was doing. At first, I didn’t even have a particular style in mind. I just divided my hair into sections and told myself, "let me just start and see how it goes."

I started with one section, and then I decided to work on the front. Surprisingly, the front came out well. It wasn’t 100% neat, but it was manageable and presentable. I was proud of myself for that small win.

By the time I got to the back, I started feeling hungry again. So I went to scoop more beans and ate. After eating, I came back and continued with the back sections. I won’t lie, it was stressful. Making your own hair at the back is not easy at all. But I enjoy doing it for myself sometimes, especially because of my bad edges. At least this way, I can take my time and do it gently.

The Final Touch
When I was finally done, I looked at myself in the mirror and thought, "something is missing." So I decided to add beads to the front to see how it would look. And guess what? It actually came out really nice! The beads gave it that extra beauty and made the whole style pop.

Spending the day making my hair myself made me realize how good it feels to do things for yourself. It was tiring, but it was also fun and fulfilling.

Thank you so much for reading my diary today. I’d love to know: Do you prefer making your hair yourself or going to the salon? Drop your thoughts in the comments ❤️
