My Diary - 30th July 2025: A Day of Peace and a Little Sick
Hello bestie,
It’s me again. Blessedi.
Today was one of those quiet days. Not loud. Not dramatic. Just... soft. A day of peace, but also a little bit of sickness hanging around me like an uninvited guest.
I woke up late this morning. The Abuja weather was calm. No rush, no pressure. The sun was peeking through my window but it didn’t feel harsh. It felt gentle, like God was telling me to slow down today. So I did.
First thing I did after prayers was go to the kitchen. I was craving something warm and homey. I decided to cook beans soup and amala. You know that feeling when the smell of beans boiling with pepper, onions, and palm oil fills the whole house? That was my morning therapy. Stirring the pot, mashing the beans till it was smooth, cutting fresh ugu and pepper for the soup... it made me feel grounded. Cooking always does that for me. Even when I’m not 100%, the kitchen brings me back to myself
After the food was ready, I served myself a plate of hot amala and beans soup. I sat by the TV and just ate slowly. No phone scrolling. No stress. Just me, my food, and the quiet. It felt like a small luxury.
The rest of the morning I spent watching movies on TV. I’ve been trying to rest more because my body has been giving me signs. Lately I’ve been feeling a bit sick again. Nothing serious, thank God. Just headaches here and there, body weakness, and that tired feeling that makes you want to lie down even after sleeping. Maybe it’s the weather, maybe it’s stress, maybe I just need to drink more water and take my vitamins. But today I chose not to fight it. I chose to listen to my body.
So I wrapped myself in a wrapper, made tea, and binged movies. Some were funny, some made me cry a little. Crying felt good though. Like my heart was cleaning itself.
There was so much peace in the house today. No visitors. No unnecessary gist. Just the sound of the fan, the TV in the background, and me breathing. I realized how much I need days like this. Days where I don’t have to prove anything to anybody. Days where I can just exist.
I thought about a lot today. About my health, about my goals, about the people I love. Even while feeling a bit sick, I felt grateful. Grateful for food on my table. Grateful that I could cook for myself. Grateful that I have a bed to lie on. Grateful that despite the small sickness, I’m still here.
Tonight I’ll take my drugs early, drink warm water, and sleep. Tomorrow is another day. I pray I wake up stronger.
A day of peace and a little sick. But still a blessed day.
Love you, bestie.
