Eye pencil drawing // My latest pencil drawing

‎Hello everyone, greetings to all my fellow artists and creative minds on Steemit. It's me, @emmaboy23, and I am happy to share another pencil drawing that I recently created. This time, I wanted to try something a little different from the usual portrait drawings I often make. Instead of drawing a complete face, I decided to focus on a single eye surrounded by fingers, creating a close-up composition that combines mystery, emotion, and human expression. For me, drawing is not only about copying what I see. It is also about taking an idea and giving it my own artistic expression. In this drawing, the eye became the main focus, while the fingers created a unique frame around it. Today, I would like to take you through the process I followed to create this artwork.

Materials needed

‎• A4 paper

‎• graphite pencil

‎• 3B, 4B, and 5B pencils

‎• Charcoal pencil

‎• black pen

‎• eraser

‎• blending tissue

‎• sharpener

Drawing process

‎

Step 1

‎I started by lightly sketching the main structure of the drawing. I first considered where the eye would be placed and how the fingers would surround it. I used light pencil strokes so I could easily erase or adjust any lines that did not look right.

Step 2

‎Next, I began to draw the eyes first. I carefully outlined the upper and lower eyelids before working on the iris and pupil. I made the pupil one of the darkest areas because I wanted the eye to immediately attract attention. I also left a small highlight inside the eye to create the feeling of reflected light. That little detail helped give the eye more life.

Step 3

‎After doing that, I focused on shading. I gradually built up the darker sections around the subject while keeping certain areas lighter. I used different levels of pressure with my pencil to create variations in tone. Instead of making everything dark at once, I slowly built up the shading. This allowed me to control the contrast and maintain the lighter areas.

Step 4

‎Next, I concentrated on the fingers placed around the eye. I carefully outlined their shapes, paying attention to the fingernails and the natural curves of the fingers. I added the lines and folds on the skin using light and medium pencil strokes. These details helped give the fingers a more realistic appearance.

Step 5

‎Finally and lastly, I went back over the entire drawing and looked for areas that needed improvement. I strengthened some dark lines, softened certain shadows, and added a few more details to the fingers and eye. Below is my final result.
