Today was Sunday, and I had been excited all week for this day off. Unfortunately, fate had other plans. I had fallen ill a few days earlier, and this Sunday was spent entirely dealing with that illness. In a way, the day was wasted. All the plans I had made fell apart. I had planned to go out with my friends, but because of my illness, that never happened.

I woke up early because I could not sleep properly. The restlessness I was feeling forced me out of bed. After freshening up and offering my prayers, I sat with my mother, who always wakes up early and is usually busy in the kitchen. Sitting with her gave me some comfort. I wished I could recover quickly and go out somewhere, but instead, my condition continued to worsen.

I was unable to do any of my usual morning activities. Instead, I remained seated there, talking with my mother. Around ten in the morning, after finishing breakfast, I noticed that the sun was shining brightly, so I went outside to sit for a while. However, I could not tolerate the heat for long and soon returned indoors.

I really wanted to spend the day with my friends. Their plans were also spoiled because of me, but some things are simply beyond our control. Throughout the day, I struggled with a severe sore throat and a high fever. That was how the day passed. The weather was pleasant in the morning, but by afternoon it had changed completely. Dark clouds covered the sky, and it started to rain lightly.

This time, despite being sick, I did not stop eating. Normally, my mother insists on a very light diet whenever we are ill because she believes it helps recovery. However, I felt that this was probably a viral fever, and I believed that eating properly was important. My brother had also been ill a few days earlier, and he advised me to do the same.

By evening, my condition had become even worse. The fever was still rising, and the restlessness and discomfort had reached another level. I felt an unusual dryness inside my body, as if all the moisture had been drained away. In the evening, I could not resist eating some cherries because they were available at home. I asked my mother to wash them with warm water. At first, she refused, but eventually she agreed when she saw how much I wanted them. Thankfully, the cherries did not make me feel any worse. In fact, they gave me a refreshing feeling.

I spent the evening sitting alone in my room. I was worried that my mother might catch the infection from me, so I kept my distance. While resting in bed, I skimmed through a few chapters of economics to keep my mind occupied. Even so, the anxiety and discomfort caused by the illness remained unchanged.

I was unable to go to the gym. My entire Sunday felt wasted. The trip to Pahalgam that I had planned with my friends was cancelled, and I was also unable to help my family with spraying pesticides in our orchards. Spraying has to be done at a specific time, and following that schedule is important. As a result, their expectations were also left unfulfilled.

Around ten o’clock at night, I had dinner and took my medicine. After that, I went to bed. Sleep did not come easily, but I still tried my best to get some rest.
