The Diary Game: [27/06/2026] Caught Between Responsibility and Rest
Hello my dearest friends. I hope you are all doing well. Very early today, my alarm woke me. The echo through my room this morning wasn't exactly the sound I wanted to hear. I was feeling so comfortable in my bed and every part of me wanted to ignore it and steal a few more minutes of sleep. But I couldn't. From yesterday, my dad had asked me to join him at work today, and I had promised to meet him after stopping by school to submit an assignment. Although, there was just one problem, I hadn't even finished the assignment yet. Knowing what was at stake, I had set multiple alarms to make sure I woke up early enough to complete it.
Thankfully, the very first alarm did the job. I dragged myself out of bed, not because I felt ready, but because my academics depended on it. For the next few hours, I stayed glued to my table, writing until 5:00 a.m. By the time I was done, I realised I had sacrificed a good four hours of my sleep time. I won't pretend I was happy about it because my body desperately wanted rest. But there was a slight satisfaction that I felt from completing the assignment. At least I no longer have to worry about it. I was so weak walking from my table to the room. I've cheated nature for a while now with sleep, and it's fast becoming a problem. Despite how exhausted I felt, the day wasn't going to wait for me. I pushed myself into the bathroom for a quick shower, hoping it would wake me up. Little did I know another task was waiting outside.
The moment I stepped out of the bathroom, my dad asked if I had washed the car. I froze for a second. I should have washed it before taking my bath but it didn't even come to mind. Even though I was a bit frustrated, I grabbed the bucket and got to work.

Just when I finished making the car sparkle, it started raining. Watching the rain soak the freshly washed car instantly was enough to make me laugh and sigh at the same time. All that effort... gone in minutes. Since I had gotten soaked during the wash, I ended up taking another shower before getting dressed. Thankfully, my mom had already prepared breakfast. I took a few minutes to eat before heading out to submit my assignment.

When I got to school, I realized it wasn't yet the agreed submission time, and even my course representative wasn't around. Rather than wait, I handed my assignment over to a friend who promised to submit it alongside his own. As I was wrapping things up with him, Dad called. By the time I answered, he complained he had already called several times without me having to pick up. I apologized and hurried over to meet him at the electrical materials store, where he had already purchased everything we'd need for the day's job. My role was simply to help load the materials into the vehicle before we headed to the work site. The rain that had interrupted my morning car wash hadn't shown any signs of stopping also. It accompanied us all the way to the site.

Once we arrived, everyone changed into work clothes, and my dad divided the tasks among us. We were beginning the early stage of an electrical installation project which involves cracking sections of the wall and laying electrical conduit pipes before wiring.

At first, the work was enjoyable. I still had enough energy, and everything seemed manageable. But as time went on, the conditions became much tougher. The dust from the walls was relentless. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to bring my nose mask, and there wasn't anywhere nearby to buy one. Every strike against the wall sent another cloud of dust into the air, and I had no choice but to endure it. Just when I thought the dust was the biggest challenge, the rain forced us to continue working outside in the cold. It didn't seem too bad at first, but gradually my body began to surrender. Thankfully, I had already completed most of my assigned portion of the work, leaving only the finishing touches before we wrapped up.

By the time I got home, I was completely drained. Anyone who knows me know I normally take cold showers regardless of the weather, but today was different. For the first time in a long while, I asked for hot water instead. Somewhere between the dust, the rain, and the cold, my body had finally waved the white flag. Not long after, catarrh and a fever began creeping in. I decided not to ignore the warning signs and walked to the nearest pharmacy, where I bought some medication to help ease the symptoms.

Before leaving the house, I had already complained to my mom about how hungry I was, and she promised to keep something ready for me when I returned. Thankfully, she had prepared one of my favorite meals. Honestly, I don't think I would've had the appetite to eat anything else. I ate from the pot while enjoying every spoon, took my medication afterward, and finally allowed myself to rest.

I genuinely hope I recover quickly. My examinations are drawing closer, and the last thing I need is to be distracted by illness. Right now, my biggest prayer is for strength, good health, and a clear mind to prepare for what's ahead.
