Hello Steemian friends!
Hope you are all well. Today I am here to participate in the "SLC31-W5" // Steem Expedición, Joyas Ocultas y Secretos Locales: Legado de lo antiguo challenge. My sincere gratitude and thanks to @oswaldocuarta for this wonderful event. This week's theme "Legacy of the Ancients" holds a special place in my heart. Because today I am taking you to a place that is not just a restaurant, it is a living chapter in the history of Bangladesh. That is 'Taj Restaurant' located in Tongi Bazar, Gazipur City, which has been operating in the same place with the same tradition since 1947.

As soon as you step into the door of Taj Restaurant, you feel as if you have gone back in time. The big signboard in front of the shop says Allah is Almighty. Then it says Baba Gausul Azam Sureshwari. That is, the owner is a devotee of Sureshwari Shrine. Inside it, a small tag says "If you are in a hurry, you can leave." Then four people will sit at a table, and then it says "First come, first served." Although reading these texts may seem a bit surprising at first, once you enter, you will understand that every word here has a meaning. No one eats in a hurry here, this is a place of hospitality. When you enter, you will see a cozy, noise-free environment. The dining table, doors and windows, pillars and thresholds are all made of wood. An old-fashioned Hajak lamp and an electric fan hang overhead. Bamboo mats on the roof of the house. Food is served in bronze jugs, spoons, steel bowls, and ceramic plates. Old photographs and calligraphy hang on the walls.

The seating arrangement and decor of Taj Restaurant will instantly take you back a few decades. In today's era, where every restaurant is losing its old look and fading due to the touch of modernity, this restaurant has been operating in business since 1947, maintaining the same continuity and tradition. The seating arrangement here is very orderly, where each table has a seating arrangement of four people. The tables are made of old-fashioned hardwood, which is rare in today's modern furniture. The entire interior is decorated with perfect craftsmanship of wood, tin and bamboo, even the surrounding fences are made of tin and bamboo. Since there is no artificial touch of modernity, the original and genuine homely feeling is found here, which creates a deep nostalgia in the minds of food lovers.

Taj Restaurant, like its tradition, has maintained its old rules in terms of transactions. There is no modern digital banking or card payment facility here. The bill has to be paid only in cash at the cash counter. So it is important to have enough cash with you before coming here. Even in this era of digital transactions, they have retained their original customs, which further strengthens the old-fashioned atmosphere of the restaurant.

☞ ¿Cuándo se construyó o desde cuándo se tiene registro de este lugar? Cuéntanos brevemente qué función cumplía originalmente, y si la mantiene.
Taj Restaurant or locally known as the 'Hotel of 1947' was originally established in 1947 during the partition of the country. It is one of the oldest and historical restaurants in the Tongi area. It was founded by the late Abdul Malek Mia. Interestingly, it has maintained its original features and functions for 78 years since its establishment. In the beginning, it served quality local food at affordable prices to the common people, and today it continues to provide the same service without any modern changes. But only with the passage of time, the price of the menu changes due to the increase in the price of raw materials.

☞¿Qué importancia tiene este lugar para tu comunidad o para ti personalmente?
Personally, I feel this place is a keeper and bearer of tradition, which reminds me of our roots. Which is beyond the thinking of the current generation. For the local community of Tongi and the surrounding area, it is not just a restaurant, but a name of passion and tradition. In the rapidly changing and modern crowd of the city, this is a place where people still find that homely taste and sincerity of the old days. It has been the most trusted address for the people of our area for the last eight decades to eat satisfying and nutritious food at a low cost.
☞ ¿Por qué crees que es importante que las nuevas generaciones conozcan este legado?
I think it is very important for the new generation to know about this tradition, because it is a part of our history. In the current era where fast food and artificial glamour are consuming everything, Taj Restaurant teaches how to survive for ages by maintaining simplicity and quality. From here, the new generation will see the real taste of our local food and a real picture of the lifestyle of our ancestors. It is possible to learn about respect for tradition and doing business with honesty from this restaurant. In this modern era, this Taj Restaurant is a shining example of keeping the roots intact, keeping aside the abundance of money and the hustle and bustle of modernity all around.
☞En términos generales que es lo ¿qué más te gusta de este sitio?
The most favorite aspect of Taj Restaurant is its 'unchanged nobility'. Instead of modern lighting or menu cards, here and there are Hejak lights, bamboo, tin and the familiar form of old-fashioned wooden tables. Then there is a steel bowl for washing hands. Especially this writing "If you are in a hurry, you can leave" There is no hassle of taking an order here, if you go at a specific time, you can get the genuine taste of steaming hot rice and local meat. This very simple sense of life and homely hospitality without any artificiality is what fascinates me the most.
