The Diary Game: (12/06/2026) _Spending the day at a workstation while getting slammed by Electricity authorities
Hi everyone. This is Ayobami again. Your favorite earthling. I'm going to tell you how my Friday went today.
Well, today started with hope.
The kind of hope every Nigerian wakes up with despite all available evidence.
I decided to cook beans and plantain. Now, if you've ever cooked beans, you'll understand that it is not food. It is a commitment. A relationship. A long-term investment. By the time the beans was done, I felt like I deserved a certificate in patience.
Just when I thought I had conquered the day, NEPA reminded me who was really in charge.
There was no light. Not for one hour. Not for two hours. The entire day.
Since my work unfortunately refuses to understand excuses like "the transformer and I are having issues," I packed my laptop and went searching for a workstation where I could work in peace.
Thankfully, I found one and managed to survive the day. Feeling accomplished, I headed home, already imagining myself relaxing after work. That was when I saw it.
Our electric pole.
On the ground.
Not leaning.
Not shaking.
Not threatening to fall.
It had already completed the assignment.
Flat on the ground.
At that point, I just stood there looking at it. The pole was looking at me too. We both knew what this meant.
The chances of seeing light tonight immediately applied for visa and relocated abroad.
So that was my day.
Cooked beans and plantain, chased electricity around town, worked from a workstation, and came back home to discover that even the electric pole had given up on Nigeria.
Tomorrow is another day.
