Daniel The Salt In Babylon (05/05/2026)
Daniel really performed as salt in Babylon, he never lost his savour at any given time with reference to Daniel 2:24-30, 46-49 He did not fear the king as to compromise, neither did he fail before God. He maintained his balance point and was able to scale through. There was no condition in Babylon that he did not use to project God's glory and at the same time benefit the people. This is a big challenge to present day Christians who are operating in a better environment than what Daniel encountered. This topic is divided into three subtopics, namely;
1. Maximizing god's store house: Daniel approached the executioner and so saved the lives of the other wise men in the book of Daniel 2: 24-25. He boldly announced that he had the answer to the king's problem. He was able to get this done because he knew how to maximize God's store house. But we are handicapped in this area due to failure on our part. We can salt other peoples' lives by offering hope, protection, guidance, etc. The resources in God's house are untapped and as such we cannot fulfill the function of being the salt of the earth. Daniel sought revelation in God's store house and he found it. Others who sought one thing or the other for the good of others were Abraham in Genesis 14:13-16, he obtained victory for Lot. Joseph Genesis 41:15, 25-36; 42:1-2,5. He got breakthrough kit for Egyptians and provisions for his brethren. Esther in Esther 4:16; 8:1-8. She obtained security for her people. Jesus in John 3:1, He obtained entire redemption for all. Paul in Acts 27:10-2, Paul saved the lives of travellers. If we can maximize God's store house then we can salt the earth properly with reference to Matthew 5:13
2. Making god's name great while de-emphasizing self: Every opportunity should be utilized to exalt God's name. Daniel was able to bring out the failure of the wise men and the prevailing power of God in all things like you can see in the book of Daniel 2:26-30, He has proved to the king that God is the only true God. He did not give him room to idolize him, instead he lowered himself so that God will be raised up When God moves through our lives to others, don't our ego rise? Don't we often say I, we...... let us watch against taking God's glory The more we hide ourselves, the more God is seen through us. Others who behaved like Daniel were Joseph in Genesis 41:16, John the Baptist in the book of John 1:15,19-20; 3:28,30-31
3. Marching humility with honour: Daniel humbled himself as not to take God's glory and God honoured him Daniel 2:46-49, He was exalted by the king. The way up is down. The way to honour is to humble ourselves.
