Causes of decreased motivation in children to learn

Dear friends, admins, and all beloved community moderators. May we always be under His protection!

In this era of globalization, all of us, whether teachers, parents, or the general public, have realized that many children's motivation to learn has significantly decreased. Although every teacher always provides the best motivation, and parents always provide guidance and direction as much as possible, children's motivation to learn has significantly decreased compared to previous eras.

However, on this occasion, I would like to explain some of the causes of the decline in children's motivation to learn, especially schoolchildren, including:

1. Lack of Curiosity

Curiosity refers to the desire to learn learning materials and other things, which is not in line with the inner desires of each child. Most school children today only understand what the teacher says and prefer to remain silent rather than ask questions about things they don't understand or want to understand.

2. Lack of Self-Confidence
Sometimes, there are children who can and understand learning materials and so on, but they lack self-confidence, as if they feel incapable, afraid of making mistakes, and afraid to speak up.

3. Bad Habits That Are Hard to Break
Bad habits such as being lazy about writing and reading, and procrastinating on assignments are bad habits that are very common among many school children today.

4. Lack of Attention from Parents

This is certainly homework for every parent in terms of increasing their children's learning motivation at home. Most parents pay too little attention to their children, especially when it comes to studying and asking about their school progress.

5. Environmental factors

The environment here can be the school environment or the environment outside of school. Every child will naturally follow the influence of their friends or other people, which can lead to a decrease in their motivation to learn.

6. The Influence of Cell Phones

It is undeniable that cell phones have a significant impact on children's motivation to learn. Children spend hours playing games on their phones instead of studying.

Teachers and parents should be aware of the causes of declining learning motivation in children so they can provide more guidance. Hopefully, by understanding the causes, we can minimize the causes of declining learning motivation in children.*
