When the Mosque Becomes a Place of Intimacy
Dear friends, admins, and all moderators of this beloved community. May we always be under His protection!
In truth, the function of a mosque is not only as a place of worship, but also as a means to strengthen family ties and intimacy among people. Making the mosque a center of intimacy is a step towards reviving the function of the mosque as it was in the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Besides being a place of worship, the mosque also serves as a center for warm social and community activities.
Some of the activities carried out in the mosque to foster intimacy among people include:
1. Majelis taklim
Majelis taklim is a forum for learning religious knowledge delivered by someone trusted to teach the congregation. Participating in majelis taklim activities together certainly fosters closeness among people.
2. Thematic Studies
Hold regular group discussions or studies interspersed with interactive and friendly Q&A sessions in the foyer or inner room of the mosque. This will undoubtedly foster camaraderie among the congregation, especially those who attend.
3. Moments of Worship Together
Performing worship together, whether it's Eid prayers, Friday prayers, or the other five daily prayers, is a place where we meet, greet each other, and meet with students and teachers, fostering a sense of camaraderie.
4. Providing a Rest Area
Usually, a hall or rest area is built outside the mosque. This area serves as a forum for deliberation, a resting place for travelers, or a place to chat and laugh, as well as to share religious knowledge.
5. Celebrating Islamic Holidays
Islamic holidays, such as the Prophet's birthday celebration, welcoming the first night of Muharram, and so on, are a way to foster community unity. With community unity, closeness is further fostered.
In addition to the moments mentioned above, there are certainly many other activities you can do in the mosque to foster camaraderie among others. However, it's important to emphasize that it's forbidden to talk about anything unrelated to religious knowledge and public welfare in the mosque.
Friends, that concludes my presentation for today. I welcome your suggestions and comments. Please forgive me for any errors in this post. Wassalam.
