How do you glance at the term "Self-sacrifice"? Describe.
This could be described as the act of surrendering one's happiness, interests, well-being, desires, and plans so that others can be pleased, helped, protected, or have what they want. It is also the willingness to prioritise other people's happiness over your own. Such an act doesn't just happen but is driven by some factors which are:

  1. LOVE: Love which is a strong desire for the well-being of another fellow is a push or a reason for people to commit themselves to self-sacrifice.
  2. Empathy: This is when an individual understands and feels another person's mental state. Feelings like this make someone want to make a sacrifice.
  3. Fear: Fear is also a cause for self-sacrifice especially when one seeks to avoid rejection or calm others.

Self-sacrifice is a voluntary virtue that stems from a heart filled with love, commitment, and empathy, rather than force. It is a virtue that everyone is supposed to have especially our leaders to enable us to live peacefully and harmoniously.

Do you believe self-sacrifice often helps to enhance relationships? Share your viewpoint!
Yes, I firmly believe that self-sacrifice can often enhance a relationship. A healthy and growing relationship, requires self-sacrifice as that will show the level of our commitment and in turn leads to trust, intimacy and satisfaction, especially when it is carried out willingly. Self-sacrifice that comes from parents to their children, leaders to their subordinates, or from lovers through small or major acts like time spent, money, energy etc can greatly impact the relationship and cause the other party to reciprocate such a gesture and remain committed

Self-sacrifice often seeks recognition and respect in return. I invite you to share your justification regarding this notion!
Self-sacrifice often seeks recognition and respect in return but not in all cases. Self-sacrifice is truly supposed to come out of love and empathy which does not necessarily need recognition but in the kind of relationship that exists between parent and children, lovers, teachers and their students, and even political leaders, recognition is needed to show how committed you are to ensuring that the relationship keeps striving. As a child, I should see my parent commiting themselves to meeting my needs and I in return respect and value them.
Speaking from a Biblical point of view as a Christian, self-sacrifice should not seek recognition and respect in return. Sacrifices are aimed at returning the glory to God and the reward comes from him. Therefore, it should be carried out in secret and out of love. Mathew 6:3-4 says "But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

Conclusion
Self-sacrifice is the willingness to prioritise other people's happiness over your own which is driven by love and empathy. Self-sacrifice enhances a relationship and should not seek recognition and respect in some cases.
