Incredible India Monthly Contest of July#2: Skills or Degree!
Greetings wonderful steemians, thanks @sduttaskitchen, @meraindia for organizing sure an amazing community contest for this week 🥰. According to my experience Skills are one of the greatest assets a person can possess because they provide practical abilities that can be used to solve problems, earn a living, and adapt to changing, it's also contribute positively to society and build a more secure and successful future.
Am sharing my thoughts according to how life has revealed it face to face to me, If I had to choose between skills and a degree, i would gladly choose skills, a degree is valuable because it shows that someone has completed formal education and gained academic knowledge, which is wonderful and amazing, However, skills are what allow us to apply that knowledge in real life situations🤗, They help us solve problems, create value and adapt to changes in our lives today, Many successful people have built remarkable careers because of the practical skills they developed through learning experiences and consistent practices in the world as a whole, here in Nigeria without a person being hard working and having side jobs you can not keep food on your table, even though you are a government worker you have to make sure that you gain a skill because the way the country Nigeria is going, people that rely on only their monthly salary are suffering.
This does not mean that degrees are unimportant, In many professions such as medicine, engineering, law, and teaching, a degree is essential because it provides the knowledge and qualifications required to practice safely and professionally. However, even in these careers, success depends greatly on the skills a person develops alongside their education. A doctor needs communication skills, an engineer needs problem-solving skills and a teacher needs the ability to inspire and guide students.
I remembered when there is nothing for me and my family to even feed on 😭, because my father is a military personnel in Nigeria his bank account has some issues that needs to be sorted out, and my mum called my uncle that has a handwork, his repearing phone, and he sent us some money since then I don't joke with anything skills, it has really helped me and my family alot, for me skills is the only thing that we can depend on because even the Almighty loves those that do everything in their power ro help their selves.
Skills and degrees both play important roles in shaping our lifestyle, although they do so in different ways. A degree provides us with formal education, broadens our knowledge, and opens the door to many professional careers. It also teaches discipline, critical thinking, and perseverance, which help us make informed decisions and build a stable future. For many professions, a degree is an essential requirement that provides credibility and increases career opportunities.
Skills, however, have a direct impact on our daily lives because they enable us to apply knowledge in practical situations. Whether it is communication, leadership, cooking, farming, computer literacy, tailoring, or entrepreneurship, skills help us become productive, independent, and adaptable. They allow us to solve problems, earn income, and respond confidently to the changing demands of society. In today's world, practical skills are becoming increasingly valuable because they create opportunities for both employment and self-employment.
- When skills and degrees are combined, they create a strong foundation for success. A degree provides the knowledge, while skills bring that knowledge to life through action.
To sustain in life, which one helps us more, skills or degree? Your viewpoint!
To sustain in life today, sincerely I would choose skills, because with us knowing the right thing that we are doing, having a good handwork, we can live a wonderful life to the full, saying base on experience, I will say that degree is not reliable in Nigeria because with all your certificate after graduating you will still hold it and look for job, in Nigeria there is always rejection which everyone hates, so we all looked for skills that we are going to learn and sustain ourselves.
Skills has helped me and my family before, since that day I vould that even though I go to the university, I will have I side skill job I will be using to sustain myself, so I told my Dad that I want to go and learn babing at the saloon at least so that I can achieve something before going to the university, because here in Nigeria without having any side work as skill you will be lacking behind.
