Diary Game 11th April 2026 || Bridesmaid duties - Sharing in their joy
Have you ever met a couple you just didn’t know how they would end up together Because it seems all odds are against them?? This is the story of these friends of mine and I was beyond excited to be a part of their special day.
I had only done ashoebi once - this is a traditional setup where the bride has her close girlfriends all buy a material, sew an attire, and go about with her during her traditional wedding. Like I said, I had only been involved in ashoebi once, and by choice because the stress and money involved in it isnt a joke, and I don’t like anything stress, but for this my girl, I was willing to ride on the river Thames.😁😁 I was that excited, but first things first, our bride had to have some fun as this was going to be her last day as a single woman.

We had organized an intimate bridal shower for her. We laughed, joked, told stories, took loads of pictures, even danced for her at some point. All in the bid to make her relax and have some fun ahead of her special day.
Once it was 12am, her bridal assistant came and whisked her away, signaling the end of our night fun, but hey, we had a whole party the next morning. Our bride needed to sleep so she could be up early for her makeup.
When I tell you that being a bride can be stressful, believe me, because why was my bride up as early as 4am to begin her makeup while the groom and his men were still soundly asleep??
Of course I had to be up as well, Becaue I was in charge of taking wonderful pictures and short vidoes of the process at intervals. Trust me to deliver on the go

I decided to fix my nails while I waited.
By this time, the clock was hitting almost 9am. We went out for our bridal shoot and started prepping for the white wedding. White wedding didnt start till some minutes past 1pm because of the back and forth between the groom’s people and the elders of the brides community, but once it started, it was such a fun ceremony to behold.
One thing I learnt from the atmosphere at their white wedding is this;
- Invite people who love you and want to see you celebrate to your events. These are the people who will
be willing to wait out whatever with you and also create that joyous atmosphere your event needs. Leave the crowd alone.
As soon as the white wedding was done, we helped our bride quickly change into her traditional attire. Time was already some minutes past 3pm, yet people stayed and more were even coming- remember what I said about inviting those who love you??
Let’s allow pictures speak.

From pictures of the couple, with friends, the bride always grinning from ear to ear, the whole event was an incredible success. I like to believe I’m gearing up for my own soon and of course, I’ll involve my married friends.
