A Golden Afternoon by the Sea
Yesterday afternoon I walked along the seashore,
My steps were slow, following the rhythm of the waves.
In the distance, children laughed,
Jumped into the sea without fear,
As if knowing the water would always catch them.
Overhead, a beautiful sky stretched out.
The sunset light poured gold,
Wetting the sea, wetting laughter,
Wetting a once-tired heart.
And I just stood there,
Being a witness that happiness is simple:
A beautiful sky, cool water,
and the free voices of children.
