SC-S33/W3-Movie Plot Twist | Forgotten (2017)
Hello Movie Lovers,
It's with great delight I joined in the week 3 of Movie Dairies challenge. This week's topic is one of its kind, a movie with unforgettable twists. I enjoy suspense movies because they keep me thinking and guessing until the very end. Today, I will be sharing my thoughts on the Korean psychological thriller Forgotten (2017), a movie that completely surprised me.
The movie Forgotten tells a story about a young man by name Jin-seok, whose elder brother Yoo-seok was kidnapped one night. After nineteen good days, Yoo-seok returns, with no visible injuries, but he couldn't remember what happened during the period he was missing.
As time goes on, Jin-seok begins to notice strange changes in his brother's behavior. Yoo-seok starts acting differently, he often sneaks out late at night, and he seems to be hiding a dangerous secret. Jin-seok becomes suspicious and decides to dig and discover the truth for himself.
The movie creates an atmosphere of mystery from the beginning. Every scene in the movie raises more questions in my mind than answers, and this makes it impossible for me to predict what will happen next. Everytime I thought I had figured everything out, the story completely changed direction.
The biggest twist comes when Jin-seok discovers that the people he believed were his parents for years now are not actually his parents. What was even more shocking, is when he realizes that his entire memory has been manipulated. Goodness the life he thought he was living was based on false memories created just to protect him from a painful truth.
He gradually remembers that he was involved in a tragic incident years earlier (he confronted a man he think had ruin his family, they were struggling and during the process he accidentally stabbed the man to dead and the shock of what happened left him deeply traumatized and eventually led to psychological breakdown and he lost his memory) when that changed many lives forever.
The plot twist transformed the movie from what appeared to be a simple kidnapping mystery into a very deep emotional psychological thriller. The movie did not only focus on finding a missing brother, the story became about guilt, trauma, memory, and the struggle to face and accept reality.
Everything that happepaned earlier in the movie suddenly made sense. The strange behavior of the characters, the unusual events, and the confusing situations were all carefully placed clues (designed by the authorities) leading to the shocking revelation (that will help Jin-seok regain his memories and accept reality). I admired how the writers connected every detail so perfectly without leaving major plot holes.
The twist also changed my opinion of the main character Jin-seok. At first, I saw him as a victim searching for answers, but later I realized he was also carrying emotional scars that he had buried deep within his mind. It showed how the human brain sometimes tries to protect us from unbearable pain.
I was completely speechless when the truth was finally revealed. I had guessed several possible endings while watching the movie, but none of them came close to the actual plot twist.
The revelation made me replay the movie in my mind because many scenes suddenly had entirely different meanings. I also felt sympathy for Jin-seok because I could understand the emotional burden he had been carrying without even realizing them.
*What impressed me most was how the suspense was maintained until the final moments. The movie kept me emotionally invested, and the ending left a lasting impression on me. It reminded me of the sayying "Do not Judge a Book by Its Cover" Indeed appearances can be deceptive and the truth is sometimes far more complicated than we imagine. *
The movie main focus is Jin-seok's psychological journey, it shows how trauma can distort memory and how accepting the truth, however painful, is necessary for healing.
Forgotten is one of the best suspense movies I have watched because it combines mystery, psychological drama, and emotional storytelling in an excellent way. Its unforgettable plot twist completely changed the direction of the story and kept me thinking long after the movie ended.
I got the movie's central message which is we cannot truly escape the past forever, but confronting the truth is the first step toward healing.
If you enjoy movies that challenge your mind and keep you guessing until the very end, I highly recommend Forgotten (2017). It is a brilliant example of how an unexpected twist can transform an already good movie into an unforgettable one.
I would like to invite @chant, @ninapenda, and @eliany to participate in this interesting challenge.

Rather than simply describing the movie, you took readers through the emotional journey of discovering the truth alongside the main character. That made your review engaging from start to finish. I especially liked how you explained the psychological aspects of the story and how trauma influenced Jin-seok's perception of reality.
Your thoughts on the plot twist clearly show why Forgotten stands out among suspense films. The way you connected the hidden clues with the final revelation helps readers appreciate the depth of the screenplay without taking away the excitement of the movie itself.
This was an enjoyable and well-structured review. Thank you for sharing your perspective and introducing such an intriguing film. I wish you the very best in the challenge and look forward to reading more of your movie reviews. 🎥🌟

The real attraction of a psychological thriller is a twist that turns the viewer's entire calculation upside down in an instant. The way Jin-sook's mental conflict and the place of fabricated memories are highlighted in the discussion of the movie Forgotten, the depth of the story becomes very clear. I think that the story is not limited to the mystery of a brother's disappearance; rather, the most amazing aspect of this movie is how the human brain creates a new false reality to escape guilt and trauma. The way the strange events and incoherent behaviors at the beginning come together in a single thread at the end is really great. Jin-sook's tragic mental journey and struggle to accept the truth are what really set the movie apart from the usual mystery stories. Best wishes to you in this contest. 😊
I completely agree. That twist was brilliant because it wasn't based on luck, it relied on meticulous planning. The fake identities, carefully planted clues, and the way everyone stayed committed to the plan to help someone recover from memory loss were all executed so convincingly. It really shows how powerful teamwork, patience, and intelligence can be when they're combined for a meaningful purpose.
Thank you for stopping by my post and for your thoughtful comment. I truly appreciate your kind words and wish you all the best too!
Saludos amigo.
