Agricultural Activities Day | 04 March 2026 | "Today we finished harvesting our seed potatoes and sent them to cold storage."

Assalamu Alaikum, today our main task is to sort and bag our potatoes and send them to cold storage. I woke up early this morning and did not sleep after Sehri. I left the house at 6 am and walked along the Rabong road. The morning weather is quite cold, but I am still walking with a black sheet on my body. I will go down the road and go to our potato field. We did not guard the potato field at night. I am going to see if the potatoes are okay. I went to the potato field and I see that everything is okay. I am looking around the potato field. The sun is rising in the eastern sky.

Today my two uncles will harvest potatoes. They have sold the potatoes. Today they will carry out a huge work. My uncle will use a cow plow to pull the potatoes out of the potato rows and use workers to harvest the potatoes. Currently, cow plows are not available. Another uncle of mine is bringing a machine with a plow attached to the engine to break the potato rows. They are coming to the field every morning. There are a lot of potatoes. The land will have to be plowed. I went to see the engine-driven machine. It is working quite well, but since it is the first time today, the driver is incompetent. It has been customized by setting the engine of a small sallow machine on the power tiller.

Today, all the workers are coming by 9 o'clock. Since our lands are next to each other, it seems like a big event is going on here today and the potato fields are bustling with people. At the same time, there is a pace of work. In the meantime, we are filling our potato sacks. We have to save them for next year. We will store these in old sacks, for which we will put a red net bag inside each sack so that the sack does not burst and the potatoes do not come out when moving.

Today we have hired 3 male workers. I am with 3 brothers. Some are laying out sacks for the female workers to lift the potatoes into. Some are holding the sacks and two are filling the potatoes that the women have lifted into the sacks. At the same time, we have hired one worker to sew the potato sacks. By noon, we have finished filling the potato sacks. Now the workers will take a break for lunch.

We had 8 women here, along with 3 men. My uncle's workers who came here are also coming. They all sit in the field to eat their lunch. Now the workers will have a break of a little more than 1 hour. I also came home.

After noon, workers come to bring our potatoes from the field to the side of the road. Basically, these van drivers charge 15 taka (2.2 steem) per sack for transporting potatoes from the field to the roadside. We will transport 107 sacks to the roadside and when they are finished, they will be sent to the cold storage in the van. They are transporting 10 sacks from the field to the van and storing them on the roadside. Our female workers are sorting the potatoes and picking up the unripe and unseeded potatoes in sacks, which we feed to the cows.

5 vans are bringing all our potatoes to the roadside in two batches. From here, they will now take these potatoes to the cold storage. They are reloading the sacks they brought earlier. They are now their destination, the cold storage. I sent them the sack tokens. When they came home, they took a shower, and our work for today is over.

We watered our potato field on the first day, the water has dried up in the last two days, today we are cultivating it with a tractor, the next day we will plant almond seeds here. Today our entire work is finished, I went to my uncle's potato field. And I see that they are only picking up potatoes today, the next day they will bag them.
