Knowing when Bell Pepper Is ready to be harvested

Farming is all about good timing.
Actually, you have to be watching the green pepper a lot. Thankfully the plant gives off signs for us to know whether it's time to harvest it or not.

Passing or delaying could end you up in a waste of all the effort, investment and time spent growing the peppers that's why timing is that important.

The number one sign the color of the skin. Young peppers are somewhat dull.

After the pepper has stopped making the plant more so by using raw materials from the soil, the outside of the pepper will turn to a dark green color and will have some shine to it. You can check for this by touching it. It should feel hard. If it is soft then it is not ready to be removed.

When you press a pepper with your thumb it should feel solid. If it feels soft then believe me, you don’t want to pick it. The size of the pepper will give you an indication of how much the plant has grown. The width of the pepper near the top of the plant will show that it has stopped growing.

And the water for the pepper has to come from the ground at the right time otherwise the pepper suffers from it. So you have to check the soil daily whether it is dry or not, if the soil is dry then it ruins your harvest. The soil needs to be moist.

The peppers will change color, that's the most obvious sign, and once they have, you cannot change fix them when they spoil. They will taste different, and be of no use to you in the markets or the kitchen.

They are sold as dark green peppers, a colour either than that will not good to the customers, they come in expecting the green.

Last season my friend lost half of his green peppers because he left them for too long under the sun. He found out too late, a bad harvest cannot be salvaged when the pepper which is supposed to be sold green has turned too red.

Every single day there are details to pay attention to. You'll need to pick them right and then sell them fast.
