The humanoid robot Digit already performs repetitive jobs.
While companies announce factories, goals and millions of thefts for the future, there is a much more important detail happening right now, humanoid robots are already working in place of humans.
In the United States, the humanoid Digit, developed by Agility, began to perform a simple but extremely symbolic function, moving baskets of metal parts from one machine to another, basket after sixth, without stopping, without complaining, without making a mistake. The robot operates around 8 hours a day, split into two shifts, performing exactly the type of repetitive work that sustained the industry for decades.
And the most important thing is not what he does, it is what stopped happening, before that function was performed by a person, now it is not, and there was no crisis, there was no dramatic announcement. This is the type of exchange that redefines the market without making noise. The agility strategy is based on reliability, not spectacle. No stunts, no over-the-top demonstrations, just consistent repetition, because in the industry what matters is not the smartest robot, it's the robot that works every day.
And there is a factor that explains why this is happening now, the cost, today a robot with Agility reaches values that already compete directly with human salaries in several regions and according to the company itself, that cost could fall to something between $2 and $3 per hour in the future and when that happens, the decision stops being technological, it becomes economic and when it starts to happen, the change stops being industrial and starts to appear in the real world.
