The Diary Game [14/07/2028] // Visit to grandma.

in Steem Cameroon25 days ago

Hi guys, accept greetings from the motherland of Cameroon and welcome back to my blog, where I share my daily lifestyle experiences with you all.

Today was one of those beautiful days that remind us that the best memories are often made in the simplest places. Grandma had invited us over to help harvest fresh maize from her farm, and we could not wait to spend the day with her. Although the weather was cold and rainy, nothing could dampen our excitement.

The moment we arrived, Grandma welcomed us with her warm smile and loving embrace. After exchanging greetings, we headed straight to the maize field. It was such a wonderful sight to see rows upon rows of healthy green stalks with golden ears of maize ready for harvest. Everyone joined in, picking the fresh maize and filling our baskets. The children were especially fascinated by the whole experience. They eagerly helped where they could, laughing and competing to see who could collect the most. Their cheerful voices echoed across the farm, making the work feel more like play.

Once we had gathered enough maize, the real work began. We sat together under the shelter and started peeling off the husks. Afterwards, we carefully removed the kernels from the cobs in preparation for making one of our favourite traditional meals, corn chaff. It was amazing how quickly the work went as everyone chatted, laughed, and shared stories. There is something special about preparing food together as a family. It creates a sense of togetherness that no restaurant meal can ever replace.

The cold, rainy weather soon began to creep in, and Grandma had the perfect solution. She roasted several of the freshly harvested maize over a charcoal fire. Before long, the irresistible aroma of roasting corn filled the air. We gathered around the warmth of the fire, each holding a hot maize. The warmth in our hands was comforting, while every bite was sweet, juicy, and incredibly satisfying. It was one of those simple pleasures that instantly makes you appreciate nature's goodness. The children could not stop smiling as they enjoyed their roasted corn, warming both their hands and their little faces against the chilly breeze.

As if the roasted maize was not enough, Grandma surprised us with an assortment of fresh fruits to help us digest our delicious treat. She brought out ripe mangoes, juicy pineapple, and other seasonal fruits from the market. Everything tasted so fresh and naturally sweet. It was the perfect ending to our farm feast and a reminder of how blessed we are to enjoy food straight from the land.

Just when we thought the treats were over, Grandma reached for a packet of Cabin biscuits. Unfortunately, they did not quite win us over. The biscuits weren’t really to our taste, and the children barely ate them. We all had a little laugh about it, agreeing that the roasted maize and fresh fruits had already stolen the show. Not every snack becomes a favourite, and that is perfectly okay.

As the day came to an end, we packed up our harvest and prepared to head home. Our hearts were full of gratitude for the precious moments spent together. Days like these remind us that family is life's greatest treasure, and the simplest experiences often become the most unforgettable memories. It was indeed a wonderful day spent with Grandma, a day filled with laughter, hard work, delicious food, and the warmth of family despite the cold weather. Until our next diary, it is goodnight from this end.

@chant, buen mensaje y bien transmitido. No es fácil hablar de estos temas sin caer en clichés, y vos lo lograste.

Hola, amiga. Linda narración. El maíz es nativo de América. Es un cereal muy versátil que ha llegado con éxito a otros continentes. Saludos.
