The Diary Game [25/04/2026] // A Day of Simple Wins and Quiet Resilience

in Steem Cameroon23 days ago

Steem greetings from the motherland of Cameroon, and welcome to my blog, where I’m gonna share my lifestyle content with you all.

Today began on a surprisingly good note as it was the weekend, and for once, there was no looming pressure, no strict schedule breathing down my neck. I woke up with a calm mind and an easy spirit, grateful for the kind of morning that does not demand too much from me. Still, I knew I had a few errands to run, so it was not definitely going to be an entirely lazy day.

Walking to the farm to check work done by labourers.

I did not even bother planning breakfast because there was absolutely no rush to cook, no urgency to eat. Instead, I set out early for the farm as I had paid some laborers to prepare the land ahead of the planting season for corn, and I wanted to see the progress for myself.

When I arrived, I was immediately disappointed as the work done was far below expectations. For a moment, annoyance crept in, and I could feel the irritation building up, tempting me to let it take over the day. But then I paused and asked myself questions. Could I really say they had succeeded in ruining my day? No. I had not planned for a ruined day, and I was not about to surrender it so easily. So I made a decision not to let that setback define the rest of my day.

I turned away from the farm and decided to head toward a nearby local market. If anything, I could at least make progress toward preparing for Sunday’s meal. I had huckleberry in mind, and the thought of a fresh, well-prepared dish gave me something positive to focus on.

As if the weather cares, the sky darkened and rain began to fall just as I reached the market. I could not help but laugh at the timing but still, I had no choice but to go ahead with my plan. Rain or not, I bought the huckleberry and made my way back home satisfied.

Back home, I settled into a more relaxed rhythm as I spread out the huckleberry and carefully sorted through it, removing the bad leaves and keeping only the fresh ones. Once done, I stored it in the refrigerator, ensuring it would stay fresh for the next day’s cooking.

That small act of preparation sparked a burst of energy. I suddenly found myself in the mood to do more, so I went on a little fruit spree. I harvested oranges and paw-paw, enjoying the freshness straight from the source. The oranges were juicy, sweet, and refreshing. I did realize afterward that I had forgotten to take pictures, but somehow that made the moment feel more personal, less about sharing and more about experiencing.

Later on, a vendor passed by with avocados, and without much hesitation, I bought some. I quickly cut one to taste and it was worth the money.

Just when everything seemed to be winding down nicely, the unexpected happened, a blackout. Arsenal had a crucial match, one that could shape their chances in the Premier League. Missing watching it would have been a real disappointment.

Thankfully, electricity was restored later in the evening hours when the match was ongoing. I managed to catch the final minutes of the game, enough to feel connected to the excitement and avoid complete frustration.

Looking back, it was a day filled with small ups and downs, nothing extraordinary, yet deeply fulfilling. I chose not to let setbacks take control, and that made all the difference.

It was not a perfect day, but it was shaped by intention rather than circumstance. Until my next diary entry, have a splendid night.
