The Diary Game | The Tailor Delivered, The Clothes Are Ready & Tomorrow Is The Day! 2/06/2026

Hello hello my wonderful Steemit family! It's your friend @praizclassic01 back again — and tonight I'm writing this with a tiredness that feels earned. Today was genuinely busy from start to finish, all in preparation for what happens tomorrow. And tomorrow? Tomorrow is the Traditional Marriage. But first — let me tell you about today.

The Tailor Finally Delivered — And The Clothes Are Beautiful

If you read yesterday's diary, you'll remember the plan was to collect our chieftaincy outfits from the tailor in the evening. He had already shifted the appointment once and we were banking on him coming through today.

He did.

This morning the outfits were ready and we collected them. White senator tops and trousers — crisp, clean and looking exactly like what you wear when you want to represent your family properly. The moment I held them I could already picture the day.

But collected didn't mean ready. They needed to be washed and starched — because a senator outfit without proper starch is just a senator outfit. The starch is what gives it that firm, structured, standing-to-attention look that makes it sharp on the day. So I got to work — washed them, starched them properly and set them out.

Looking at them laid out like that — clean, pressed and waiting — it started to feel real. Tomorrow is not just another day.

The Cufflinks — Making Sure Every Detail Is Complete

In the spirit of making sure everything was complete and nothing was missing, I also went and got myself a set of cufflinks to go with the outfit.

Now — cufflinks are one of those small things that make a big difference. The kind of detail that people might not immediately notice but would definitely notice if it was missing. A senator top without cufflinks at a traditional ceremony is like a suit without a tie. It just isn't fully dressed.

Got them. Outfit complete. Everything is set for tomorrow.

Out With Mommy — The Delivery Run

Later in the day I went out with my mother to help deliver some of the wedding materials to her friends and family members who are part of the celebration. When there's a wedding in a Nigerian family, the work is communal — materials, aso-ebi, accessories — things that need to be distributed to people before the day.

The drive took us through different parts of the city and at one point we found ourselves driving past the NAFDAC headquarters — the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control. A notable building, well maintained and standing as a reminder of the important regulatory work being done to protect Nigerians from substandard food and drug products.

For those who may not know — NAFDAC is the Nigerian government agency responsible for regulating and controlling the manufacture, importation, exportation, advertisement, distribution, sale and use of food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices and chemicals in Nigeria. Their work matters more than most people give them credit for.

The delivery run was done, the materials reached where they needed to go and we headed back home.

Me And Bro Got Hot Drink — Lord's Gin

After all the running around, me and my brother decided to treat ourselves to something to mark the eve of the big day.

Lord's London Dry Gin.

Now I'll say this clearly — this isn't something I do regularly and it was very much a small, measured celebration. The eve of your brother's traditional marriage is one of those occasions where a little something to mark the moment feels right. We sat, talked, laughed and looked forward to tomorrow together.

Dinner — Jollof Rice, Chocolate & A Smoothie From Sis

After the day's activities, dinner was served and it was a proper spread.

Jollof rice, a cup of chocolate drink and a smoothie — the smoothie was a gift from my sister, who clearly understands that a tired person deserves something refreshing.

The jollof was good. The chocolate was warm and comforting. The smoothie was cold and exactly what I needed. A perfect end to a physically demanding day.

Barcelona's Transfer Activity — A Surprising Scroll

In the little time I had to rest and scroll through my phone today, something caught my eye in the football news.

Barcelona's transfer activity — and it genuinely surprised me.

For a club that has been publicly known to be dealing with significant financial debt and strict La Liga salary cap restrictions, Barcelona have been remarkably active in the market. The club secured key arrivals including goalkeeper Joan García from Espanyol for €25 million and brought in Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United, with young attacker Roony Bardghji also joining from Copenhagen.

And it doesn't stop there. Barcelona continue to pursue Liverpool winger Luis Díaz, viewing him as a marquee addition, although his price tag remains a hurdle. They are also considering a move for Bayer Leverkusen's Piero Hincapié this summer.

Now — knowing Barcelona's well documented financial challenges, their financial difficulties have once again shaped their transfer strategy, with tight salary caps and ongoing budget constraints forcing them to proceed with caution. And yet they are still managing to bring in names and chase others.

It raises an interesting question — how exactly is a club under financial constraints making these kinds of moves? The answer lies in how La Liga's financial rules work — player sales, creative contract structures, loan deals and leveraging future income. Barcelona have become masters of what some call financial engineering in the transfer market.

Whether it's sustainable long term is a conversation for another day. But as a football fan, watching Barcelona navigate the market despite their situation and still compete at the highest level — winning La Liga this season — you have to give credit where it's due.

Tomorrow Is The Day — The Traditional Marriage

Now. Let me talk about tomorrow properly.

Tomorrow is the Traditional Marriage ceremony — the Ibibio traditional wedding for my brother and his bride. And I cannot overstate how much has gone into getting to this point.

If you've been following these diaries, you'll know the journey — the trips to Suleja market for fabrics, the photoshoot session, the tailor appointments, the cufflinks, the chieftaincy outfits, the haircuts, the coordination, the family gatherings. Every preparation has been pointing to tomorrow.

The ceremony is holding at the bride's family compound — and it is a bit of a distance from where we are. Which means tomorrow morning we need to be out of the house by 6AM. Sharp. No delays, no easing into the morning — 6AM and moving. That means tonight, sleep needs to come early and come fast.

Now let me paint you a picture of what tomorrow will look like.

The Ibibio groom will be in full traditional regalia — the wrapper tied with dignity, the chieftaincy fabric draped over the shoulder, the traditional cap sitting on the head, the staff in hand, the flat heel shoe completing the look. Every piece carrying the weight of culture and heritage. As I described in the photoshoot diary — when my brother wore that outfit in the studio he transformed. Tomorrow on the actual day, in front of both families, that transformation will be something to witness.

The Edo bride will come representing her own rich heritage — the deep colours, the coral beads that the Edo people hold as sacred, the regal bearing that Edo traditional bridal wear demands. A union of two distinct, beautiful and proud cultures — Ibibio and Edo — coming together in one ceremony.

The colours, the food, the music, the dances, the prayers, the exchange of gifts and vows — I intend to document everything. Every outfit, every moment, every detail will make it into the diary. This will be a post you will not want to miss.

But above all the beauty and excitement — we are committing tomorrow entirely into God's hands. For the journey there and back. For the ceremony. For the families coming together. For the weather. For everything to flow peacefully and joyfully. We pray that tomorrow is everything it is meant to be and more.

"Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts will be established." — Proverbs 16:3

Wrapping Up — Off To Bed Early Tonight

Today was full. The tailor delivered, the outfits are washed and starched, the cufflinks are ready, the delivery run is done, dinner was good and the heart is ready for tomorrow.

I am going to bed early tonight — and I mean it this time. A 6AM departure requires it. The body needs rest, the mind needs to be sharp and the day needs to be met with full energy.

To everyone who has been following this wedding journey through these diaries — tomorrow is the payoff. The traditional marriage is finally here.

Stay tuned.

Goodnight everyone and God bless! 🙏l
