The Dairy Game: A Productive Day Off, My Market Adventure, Unexpected Price Increases, and a Relaxing Evening [ 03-08-2026 ]

Good day, amazing Steemians! I hope you are all doing well. Today, I would like to share how I spent my day off from work. Welcome to a new episode of my dairy post @somnma. Although I didn't go to work today, I still had a very productive day filled with different activities that kept me busy from morning until evening.

I woke up and started my day by carrying out my morning routine. After saying my prayers and completing the necessary house chores, I decided to prepare a shopping list because we needed several food items and cooking ingredients at home. I carefully wrote down everything we needed so I wouldn't forget anything while at the market.

When I finished writing the list, I gave it to my dad. He looked through it and gave me money to buy the items. Immediately he handed me the money, I folded it together with my shopping list and kept everything safely so I wouldn't misplace either of them. I then had my bath, got dressed, brushed my teeth, wrapped my scarf around the hair I have been loosening for almost a week now, and got myself ready to leave the house.

Before heading to the market, I decided to stop by my cousin's house because it had been quite a while since I last visited them. It was nice seeing everyone again. When I got there, I saw my cousin was bathing their little puppy. We spent a few minutes talking, before I continued my journey to the market.

Getting to the market, I began buying the items one after another according to the list I had prepared. After purchasing many of them, I paused for a moment to cross-check my list. To my surprise, I realized I hadn't bought as many things as I expected, yet the money I was given was already running out. For a few seconds, I became worried and wondered if I had mistakenly lost some money along the way. After checking carefully, I discovered that nothing was missing. The real reason was that the prices of many items had increased compared to what I expected. I had no choice but to add some of my own money so I could complete the shopping and buy the remaining ingredients we needed at home.

The bags became quite heavy after I finished shopping, making it difficult to walk all the way home. Because of that, I decided to take a bike home. It made the journey much easier and saved me from carrying the heavy load for too long.

When I got home, I brought everything inside, sorted and arranged them neatly in their proper containers. I was happy to see everything well organized. I bought garri and some cooking ingredients such as seasoning, salt, and a few other kitchen essentials that we needed.

After arranging everything, I rested for a while since I was already feeling tired. Since today was my official day off from work, I decided to make good use of the opportunity by continuing to loosen my hair, which I had started several days ago but hadn't finished yet and finally I finished loosing it today.

Later in the day, my phone went off because the battery was completely drained, so I couldn't take pictures of what I ate. For lunch, I prepared a simple plate of noodles, which was quite satisfying after the stressful market trip. In the evening, when my dad came back from work I decided to use his phone to take a picture of my dinner. I had bread with a soft drink for dinner, keeping the meal light and simple. Not quite long after I finished eating my dinner, the electricity was restored.

Overall, today was productive despite the unexpected increase in market prices. I was happy that I completed everything on my shopping list, organized the groceries, rested well, and made progress with my hair.
