STEEM EVM Update: 223K Blocks, Welcoming @justyy & Sherpa Protocol Revenue

Note: Upvoting and resteeming this post directly motivates me to continue building and improving the Steem Virtual Machine ecosystem. Your support is greatly appreciated!

The Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) continues to operate with exceptional stability, having now crossed 223,000 blocks. Today, I am thrilled to welcome a key community figure to our validator set and share some exciting early metrics from the Sherpa Protocol test environment.

Previous Updates

Welcoming @justyy

I am pleased to announce that @justyy has successfully joined the SVM validator set! This brings our total number of active validators to 12.

As discussed in previous posts, we extended the deadline for the 5,000,000 SHERPA genesis reward distribution to August 4th. Since @justyy joined before this new deadline, he will be included in the equal share of the reward pool. His participation further strengthens the decentralization and security of our network.

Sherpa Protocol: Early Revenue Metrics

Even in the testnet environment, the Sherpa Protocol is demonstrating its economic viability. Through swap fees and sUSD stability fees, the protocol has generated $34.48 in simulated revenue.

While these are test values, they highlight the potential for sustainable yield generation within the SVM ecosystem. As we move toward mainnet, these mechanisms will drive real value for liquidity providers and SHERPA token holders.

Current Network Stats:

  • Total Blocks Produced: 223,000+
  • Total Transactions: 1,002
  • Registered Addresses: 80
  • Average Daily Transactions: ~31
  • Average Gas Price: 1.1 gwei
  • Average Block Time: 6.7 seconds

Optimization Note: Block Time Adjustment

The current average block time of 6.7 seconds is slightly higher than our initial target due to network latency across our growing validator set. To maintain optimal throughput, I plan to propose a governance parameter change to increase the blocks per year, which will effectively decrease the target block time. This will ensure the SVM remains fast and responsive as we scale.

Sherpa Allocation Details

For those interested in the broader tokenomics, the initial SHERPA allocation details for pre-sale backers and other stakeholders have been published. You can read the full breakdown here:
