STEEM EVM Update: IBC Integration in SVM App & 270K+ Blocks

Note: Upvoting and resteeming this post directly motivates me to continue building and improving the Steem Virtual Machine ecosystem. Your support is greatly appreciated!

The Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) continues to operate with exceptional stability as we push forward with critical interoperability features. Today, I am excited to share that I am actively working on integrating IBC (Inter-Blockchain Communication) directly into the SVM App UI, making cross-chain asset transfers more accessible than ever for testers and users.

🚀 New Feature: IBC Integration in SVM App

While the backend IBC infrastructure has been live and tested via CLI, the user experience has been limited to technical users. I am now wiring the IBC transfer module directly into the SVM App interface.

What this enables:

  • One-Click Bridging: Users will be able to bridge assets from Osmosis, Noble, and other IBC-enabled chains directly through the app without needing external relayers or CLI tools.
  • Asset Discovery: Automatic detection of IBC-denominated tokens once they arrive in your wallet.
  • Seamless DeFi Integration: Bridged assets (like USDC, EURC, cirBTC) will be immediately available for swapping and liquidity provision in SherpaSwap.

This integration is currently in the testing phase and will be rolled out to the public testnet soon. Stay tuned for the official UI release!

Network Health & Statistics

The blockchain remains robust with all 12 validators maintaining excellent uptime and consistent block production.

Current Network Stats:

  • Total Blocks Produced: 270,516+
  • Total Transactions: 8,883
  • EVM Transactions: 1,099
  • Average Block Time: 6.7 seconds
  • Active Validators: 12 (All Healthy)

The steady stream of EVM transactions confirms that developers and testers are actively engaging with smart contracts, validating the readiness of our DeFi suite.

How to Connect & Participate

To start interacting with the SVM or testing IBC via CLI while the UI is being finalized:

Community Engagement

  1. Test IBC (CLI): Advanced users can try bridging assets now using Hermes or the CLI while waiting for the UI update.
  2. Explore DeFi: Continue testing SherpaSwap and sUSD vaults to help us gather performance data.
  3. Witness Support: Your vote supports the ongoing development and infrastructure costs of the SVM.
