Contest 57 | My favorite outfit this week
Hello everyone welcome to another new week.
Warm greetings to you all, pray this new week favours us and be good to us too.
Special thanks to @m-fdo for organizing this wonderful contest.
Here is my entry for "my favorite outfit this week" it's always a pleasure to participate.
Okay so if you asked me to pick just one outfit from this week, I genuinely wouldn't have to think about it for long. It's the two-piece I made from this vintage fabric — short-sleeved top, matching trousers. I'm kind of obsessed with how it turned out honestly, and I've already worn it more than once this week even though there's still a few days left.
What's your favorite outfit this week? Describe it by sharing its photos. |

So the fabric is the whole story here, really. It's got a black background, and on top of that you've got these loud, beautiful splashes of blue, gold, green, and orange all arranged in this floral pattern that feels more like art than print, if that makes sense. It's not subtle at all, but somehow it doesn't feel like "too much" either — it just works. I can't fully explain why, but the colours kind of balance each other out.
The gold especially catches the light in a way that looks almost different depending on the time of day, and the green and blue cool it down just enough. You'll see what I mean in the photos — the pattern doesn't look stamped on, it looks like it was painted, almost. And since both the top and the trousers came from the same piece of fabric, the whole thing reads as one outfit instead of two separate things thrown together.
Why do you like this outfit?i |

Honestly? A few reasons, and they're not all about how it looks. There's just something about vintage fabric in general — it has this character to it that you don't get with the stuff that's mass-produced everywhere now. A lot of vintage prints pull from older fashion eras, sometimes the fabric itself is genuinely old and preserved, and you can kind of feel that when you're wearing it.
It sounds dramatic but it almost feels like wearing a little bit of history.
Then there's the actual quality, which honestly surprised me a bit. It's soft, it's comfortable, I've worn it a handful of times now and it still looks brand new, no wear and tear, nothing. That tells you something about how well-made these vintage materials actually are, assuming you take care of them properly.
And the way it drapes — that's the part that made it perfect for a two-piece. The top isn't tight or stiff, the trousers have just enough structure to hold their shape without feeling rigid. It just moves with you.
And honestly, it's just versatile. I'm not limiting this outfit to one type of event — I'd wear it casually, to a get-together, a cultural event, anywhere I want to look a bit more put-together without trying too hard. Every time I put it on I just feel more confident, like the outfit's already doing half the work before I even leave the house.
Where did you get this outfit? Tell me about the location. |

This is honestly my favorite part of the whole thing. I got the fabric from Itam Market, in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. If you've never been, there's a section of that market specifically for vintage and designer materials, and you can genuinely spend a long time just walking through, looking at patterns, feeling textures, comparing colours.
I went through quite a few before this floral print stopped me — like, actually stopped me mid-walk. The colours just had that effect.
Once I had the fabric, I didn't take it to some random tailor shop. I gave it to a friend of mine who sews really well, told her what I was picturing, He took my measurements, and just... made it happen. It came out exactly how I imagined it — fitted properly, looks elegant, comfortable to actually move in.
And there's something kind of special about that too, you know? Wearing something that wasn't just picked off a rack somewhere, but made by someone who actually put effort into it for me specifically.
So yeah. Good fabric, good quality, a nice story behind where it came from, and a friend who made it real. That's basically why this is my favorite outfit of the week, and I have a feeling it's going to stay on rotation for a while after this too.
What is the value of this outfit? Show us its value in your country's currency and in STEEM currency. |
