Prove yourself as the best artist for the week
Greetings, wonderful Steemians, and I hope all is well. It’s another opportunity to share my creativity, and I’m excited to present my latest pen drawing for the contest “Prove Yourself as the Best Artist This Week," organized by @dequeen. For my entry today, I decided to challenge myself with something both delicate and demanding—a detailed flower composition created entirely with a blue ballpoint pen. Here's how I created this piece.

Step-by-Step Process
Step 1
I began by drawing the first flower first. I carefully shaped the petals and focused on their curves and natural folds, making sure each petal looked organic and not stiff.
Step 2
Next I shaded the first flower. By increasing the density of lines in certain areas, I was able to create contrast without the need for color variation. The darker edges of the petals help frame the lighter centers, giving the flowers a glowing effect.
Step 3
After that, I then worked on the second flower. Just like I did in the first step, I applied the same method here as well.
Step 4
As I progressed, I also worked on the third flower and added smaller elements like the inner parts of the flowers, stems, and surrounding leaves.
Step 5
For the finishing step, I deepened the shadows and refined the edges. I also ensured that the highlights remained clean to enhance contrast. I decided to keep the background plain so the focus remains entirely on the flowers. Below is my final result.

Pen drawing, in my experience, is one of the most honest forms of art. Unlike pencil work, where mistakes can be corrected, pen demands commitment. In conclusion, this piece is my way of proving myself—not just in skill, but in consistency and creativity. Great sketch, Emmy. Biro sketch is something I have tried several times but I find it hard to tolerate the excessive ink flow, well my favorite pen to use is a Bic pen.
