Task 2: Cultural Background (2 marks)
Which culture or people does it belong to? What is the origin of the food? What does it represents in their culture, lifestyle and history.
Afia Efera- Ebot is eaten mostly in the south south region of Nigeria especially when there is occasion like traditional marriage or other occasions. Even 60-80 % of the restaurants in the south south cook Afia Afera-Ebot soups more than every other soup.
Although is also eaten in the other East region but in the east is been prepared with catfish and not goat meat.
Although it originated from the East and is called ofe nsala. but the Eastern Nigeria does not value it the way it's been value in the south region. Afia Efera-Ebot or you can call it white soup in English is one of the soup prepare for an occasion and also it's a soup normally prepare for a nursing mother deu to it being prepare without palm oil, and also the local spicy uyayak which is a very good high medicinal which is very good for nursing mother, rich in antioxidants, and also used in some traditional remedies.
Task 3: Cultural Comparison (2 marks)
Compare this dish with a similar meal from your own culture. What are the similarities and the difference?
In my own comparison there is no too much difference in the way we prepare the Afia Efera-Ebot. The only difference is:
In my Eastern Nigeria we use 🐟 fish mostly catfish cocoyam or yam and utazi leafs to get the thickness of the soup.
But the in the south region Afia Efera-Ebot is being prepared with achi which is the thickner most than the cocoyam or yam.

Your post is presented in a very simple yet engaging manner. You have made the recipe for Afia Afira Abbot (White Soup) easy to understand by explaining it step by step. The choice of ingredients and the traditional style of cooking especially beautifully reflect the cultural significance of this dish. I also liked that you highlighted its medical benefits and its importance for nursing mothers. The comparison between different regions was also informative. Overall, this is a great and meaningful sharing, with further improvements you can do even better.
You just made me salivate. The most prominent ingredient in this food are the proteins in it. Without goat meat, there's no white soup. That's why I usually make purchases of just white soup when I visit a restaurant. Because of the meat. Your steps are cool and easy to follow. Next time, you can call me to assist you ma.
So funny of you okay I will call you next time I won't to prepare it.
