Mechanical Engineering Drawing, abbreviated as ME Drawing, is a very important and fundamental subject in engineering. In simple words, it is the language of engineers. It is impossible to explain how a car, robot, or any large machine parts will be made by speaking or writing in a simple notebook. For that, perfect geometric design is required, and this work is done through mechanical drawing. The nature of the subject and its depth are discussed in a few points below In this subject, you will be taught how to draw a three-dimensional (3D) object

The book

Two-dimensional (2D) paper has to be drawn perfectly. Here, specific international rules for giving scale, line type, angle and dimension are taught. Initially, one has to learn to work with lines perfectly with the help of T-scale, set-square, compass and drawing board. In the present era, drawing is mainly done on computers. Using software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Fusion 360, one is taught to create 3D models and 2D layouts. Honestly, mechanical drawing has nothing to do with fine arts. Here, it is more important than drawing beautiful pictures.

It may take some time to understand at first. Many people find it a bit difficult to visualize the inside of a complex machine on a piece of paper. This is a subject that cannot be passed by just memorizing. The more you practice drawing sheets and spend time in the software, the easier it will seem to you.

In short, mechanical drawing will be a very enjoyable and art-like subject if you pay attention to the class work and practice regularly. There is no alternative to becoming proficient in this subject if you want to be a successful mechanical engineer.
