The Test Of True Stewardship(02/04/2026)

When you check the book of Daniel chapter 6 from one to the end, Daniel recognized the fact that he was a steward to God and it was expected of him to be found faithful- 1 Corinthians 4.2. A lot of test came his way to prove his stewardship and in all, he did not derail. Tests are meant to prove us and not to pull us down (James 1:2-3). Every one of us will give account of himself to God- (Romans 14:12). We are looking at the following areas:

1. Our testimony: Daniel had a good testimony in Babylon because of his faith in God. It was recognized by the heathen (Daniel 6:1-3; 5:10-16), in Babylon that he has the spirit of God, light and understanding, wisdom, excellent spirit, knowledge, interpretation of dreams, dissolving of doubts and showing of hard sentences. The virtues made him marketable and in the end glory went to God. As true stewards we should be bestowed with virtues which will tell the world who we are. Daniel could not be bought over with gifts (Daniel 5:17) His was geared towards the fulfillment of God's calling upon his life. Don't our testimony change when we are confronted with money and material things. There are others with proving testimonies that made them to be preferred, in the passage Genesis 39:2-6, Joseph had noticeable testimony. In Jeremiah. 26:5-11, Jeremiah had a testimony of sound teaching and prophecy. He did not yield to pleasure of death. Also in Matthew 26:57, 62-63, Jesus testimony of the Son of the living, God shook the religious leaders of his time. Acts 6:8-10, Stephen's testimony was great. Acts 5:15-16, the apostles had testimony of God's power in their lives. Every testimony goes along with it's temptations.

2. Our troubles: The excellent testimony of Daniel was not without trouble. His opponents, who wanted those testimonies to quench, sought an occasion against him. Every true steward should always bear in mind that the devil will not rest until he changes his testimony. Our testimony draws trouble, but God in His faithfulness will see us through. Joseph in an attempt to maintain his testimony landed him to prison. Daniel's own took him to lion's den. That of Jesus took him to the cross in Mt. 27:20-23. Stephen was stoned in Acts 6:11-14, 7:57-59. The apostles were troubled on every side in Acts 8:1,3. Jeremiah was jailed for the prophesy of God's judgment he spoke.

3. Our travail: The test of true stewardship lies in our producing testimonies that will give God glory and opposing anything that attacks our testimony. This then demands labour or travail from us. Daniel travailed in prayer and in integrity, so that the precious faith will not be taken away from him. He passed the test of true stewardship. Jeremiah was encouraged by God to travail in prayer (Jeremiah. 33:1-3). Jesus travailed in prayer Mt. 26:38-44. The apostles travailed in prayer- Acts 4:23-31. Our travail will make us not to loose balance. We have to travail in prayer, soul winning, patience and integrity.
