The diary post - A Typical Saturday at Home — From Market Runs to Kitchen Duties & Football Banter - 18/04/2026
Hey guys, hope your day went well It’s @praizclassic1, and welcome to my diary game.
Today was just one of those proper Nigerian Saturdays… you know, the kind that doesn’t let you rest but somehow still feels productive
My day started early because my mum just got a new thermal receipt printer for her business.
Nothing too serious to set up — just plug power and arrange the paper… but the funny part?
She thought the printer had a battery and could be charged like a phone
I had to explain: “No mummy, this one na direct light work”
Sha, I set everything up for her, showed her how it works and what to do if anything comes up. Technician mode activated and completed
After that, I went back inside for a bit, then came out again for Saturday cleaning.
And we all know Saturday cleaning is not your regular sweep and go…
This one involves cobweb eviction.
I was removing webs from ceiling and windows like say I be landlord chasing tenants.
While I was still in that mode, my sister came with an assignment:
“You’re following me to the market.”
No negotiation. No appeal. Just like that.
I agreed after plenty questioning, but I told her she’d have to wait small because I needed to eat first.
Because last time I followed women to market on an empty stomach…
Omo, I suffered. I learned my lesson.
So I quickly peeled yam, boiled it, warmed stew and ate.
Funny thing?
She that was complaining I was wasting time… still came to eat too.
Hypocrisy 101.
After that, we stepped out.
Got to the market and first stop — fowl section.
That “point and kill” zone where you choose your chicken and they handle the rest.
Once she made her choice and paid, I made a smart move.
I told her I’d stay back and wait for the chicken to be ready while she goes around to buy other things.
Strategic move
Reduce stress where you can.
When it was ready, I called her and met up with her. At least by then, she had covered some ground already.
Next mission — buying a birthday gift for my nephew.
We entered a toy store…
And Omo… toy prices these days??
You’ll think the toy can talk, cook, and pay rent.
But we managed to get two things — a Spiderman building blocks set and a carriage truck.
After that, we bought mangoes for small energy boost.
Because at this point… market don humble us
Got home, dropped everything, changed, and went straight for the mango.
After just two pieces, strength returned small.
Then suddenly… inspiration struck.
I remembered I had kilishi.
Now for those that don’t know —
Kilishi is a Nigerian dried, spicy grilled meat, similar to jerky, very rich in flavor.
So I decided to try something new — garri + kilishi combo.
I won’t lie… it wasn’t bad
Started strong, but I couldn’t eat too much.
Experiment noted.
Then the real kitchen work started.
We were making egusi soup, so I had my own assigned duties:
Washed vegetables
Selected and pounded crayfish
After that, I became the official:
“Bring this”
“Bring that”
assistant
But I didn’t mind, I was in a good mood.
Finally… food was ready
We brought out the fufu we bought earlier and did justice to it.
That meal? Worth every stress.
After eating, I relaxed and checked some football.
There were a few fixtures, but the one that mattered to me was
Chelsea vs Manchester United.
Chelsea hadn’t scored or won in their last 3 games… but still, I was a bit unsure.
But guess what?
Final match final scorer and the scorer Cunha
Manchester United won 1-0,
And Chelsea’s suffering continued.
I won’t lie… the joy was personal.
After that, I carried my joy to PES with my brother…
And that’s where things went wrong .
the PES scores, my bro used man city
I don’t even know what happened…
I just know I was losing more than I was winning
Life balanced itself immediately.
And now, here I am, wrapping up the day and sharing it with you guys.
Today was a full package —
house chores, market stress, food experiments, family time, and football drama.
But one thing about days like this…
they remind you that even in the stress, there’s always something to enjoy.
Grateful for it all 🙏🏽
Thanks for reading guys ❤️
See you in my next diary entry.
