I feel technology is going to a place where we are becoming powerless and way too dependent, like losing the physical versions of most of the things we used to own, to the more trendy versions of online version.

Different Impacts Of technology

Music is a big example. No real ownership of music on our devices, everything is stored online and we merely access them by logging into accounts.

This is what we have to deal with because the world is moving at a scary speed and we must always adjust and participate. I don't like it, but what can I do?

But in all of the advancements of the human civilization, one that I am so pleased and happy to use every time I light my match is the invention of cooking gas and maybe electric cooker. Generally, I am talking about cleaner and more modern ways to cook our food now compared to the times that we used to burn firewood or cook with kerosene stoves.

Recently, I have had to cook using both cooking gas and the firewood option and boy, am I grateful for whoever created cooking gas.

With firewood, it usually takes about 40 minutes to boil a little water with the kettle. The same little water would be boiling violently on the gas cooker within 5 minutes.

Reduced Disease

This is not even taking into account the smoke you have to inhale trying to cook your food. Or the inconvenience of smelling like smoke before your food gets done. Then you will have to sit by the fire all day if you are cooking food like beans or trying to boil tough meat.

Human's advancement in this regard also indirectly took care of a particular disease that was bedevilling people in the past. That disease is cataract and lungs diseases.

Many times in the past, before the invention of modern cooking techniques, cooking with firewood usually would expose our forefathers to the inhalation of all kinds of poisonous smokes from various woods. Some of these woods have chemicals that react badly with fire then get into our eyes and lungs and cause us all kinds of problems.

This is the part of the human advancement that I am most appreciative about.

A lot of the technology we enjoy right now deserve their place in our lives, because they absolutely make life easy for us and free up time for us to use on other important things.

Like this little mobile fan that can be moved and taken anywhere, with little rechargeable batteries. This is a little advancement that you could say may not be profound, but are much better than the older versions needing too much manual labor.

But some other technologies take away some of the things we used to own and only give us part ownership, instead of full, physical ownership. Anyways, I am not complaining much because I still download and save all the good media that I enjoy on the Internet.
