SLC31-W2 | The Curious Explorer : Offbeat Landmarks.

Dear Steemit friends, how is everyone? Today I have brought an old house. This house is the ancestral home of brother Girishchandra Sen, where the great book Al-Qur'an was translated into Bengali. Although he was of a different religion, he was entrusted with the duty of translating the holy Qur'an for Muslims.

I will provide details about the place where brother Girishchandra Sen lived. He was born in this house in 1835 and passed away in 1910. He is particularly known for his Bengali translation of the Qur'an. This is the ancestral home of brother Girishchandra Sen. There is only a 3% area here, and a large hall has been constructed on this site, which has now been renovated and preserved as a memorial center. During the renovation of the house, there are old sides of the hall that have not been restored, allowing visitors to see them. The museum is open from 10 AM to 5 PM. This museum is located at the Narsingdi Panchdona intersection beside the Sylhet highway.

There is a caretaker for this house who helped us in showing the house and informing us about everything. Inside the room, various items are displayed, including old bronze plates, bowls, and some small balls. Since candles and lanterns were used in the past, this practice continues to preserve the tradition. There is no electric connection here. Additionally, there are his used bed, attire, sheets, a used wall clock, slippers, and ink used for writing.

The sitting area and the place where he translated the holy Qur'an have not been restored so that visitors can see them. There is a staircase to access the second floor, and in front of it, there is a large balcony. Since there is no electric connection, it looked somewhat dim, and the second floor has approximately 4-5 small rooms. The staircase is located in one corner, and a tube well was provided for water supply.

In addition to translating the Qur'an into Bengali, brother Girishchandra Sen wrote "Tapos Mala," "Hadith," contemporary newspapers, and the vowels and consonants of Bengali writing, which were previously written in reverse, are displayed on the walls here.
