Gaye Holud and Wedding Ceremony

1.What is the name of the culture, festival, or tradition that is celebrated in your community? Tell us where it usually takes place and share the Google Map, Steematlas, and Google Plus location.

The culture and tradition I would like to talk about in my community are Gaye Holud and wedding ceremonies. In Bangladesh, Gaye Holud and the main wedding ceremony are important parts of a traditional wedding. Weddings are usually celebrated in a colorful and joyful way.

I would like to share my personal experience of attending my friend's Gaye Holud and wedding ceremony. I will talk about the different activities, customs, and traditions that we enjoyed during the celebration.

2.In your community, why is this festival or tradition important to your community?

Marriage is a very important tradition in our community. It has been practiced in our society for many generations. When a young man or woman reaches a suitable age for marriage, families arrange the wedding ceremony according to their traditions.

Although the size and arrangements of weddings can be different from family to family, the happiness and excitement are almost the same for everyone. A wedding brings two people and their families together and creates a new relationship between them. After marriage, the couple begins a new chapter of their life together.

3.What activities do they like: music, dance, food, ritual, clothing, etc.

There are many activities during a Gaye Holud and wedding ceremony. We enjoy music, dancing, traditional rituals, and delicious food. Family members, relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to the celebration so that everyone can share the happiness.

The Gaye Holud ceremony usually includes dancing, singing, applying turmeric to the bride or groom, taking pictures, and spending time together. After that, the main wedding ceremony is completed according to the traditional customs.
Food is also an important part of a wedding. Different kinds of delicious dishes are prepared for the guests.

Special clothing is another beautiful part of the celebration. On the Gaye Holud day, people often wear yellow-colored Punjabis, sarees, or other traditional clothes. On the wedding day, men may wear Sherwani or Punjabi, while women usually wear beautiful traditional dresses or sarees.

The thing I enjoy most about a wedding ceremony is being together with friends, family, and relatives and having fun together. We enjoy music, dancing, taking pictures, talking, and sharing happy moments.

Since it was my friend's wedding, I especially enjoyed going to the bride's home with my friends and relatives to bring the bride to the groom's home. We had a lot of fun there and enjoyed the celebration together.

After completing the wedding ceremony, we brought the bride to our friend's home. I really liked this moment because a new member was joining our family. It was a very memorable experience for me.

5.Share with us how it brings people together in your community, and tell us if you would recommend visitors experience it and why?

A wedding ceremony is like a social gathering point for our community. Relatives, friends, neighbors, and family members all come together to share happiness.

Everyone enjoys the celebration through music, dancing, conversations, photography, and delicious food. When many relatives and friends come together at a wedding, the whole environment becomes joyful and lively. People meet each other, talk about different things, and enjoy spending time together.

I would definitely recommend visitors experience a traditional Bangladeshi wedding, especially a Gaye Holud ceremony. It is a wonderful way to experience our culture, traditional clothing, food, music, rituals, and the strong relationship between families and communities.

Marriage, especially a traditional wedding, is often cherished by the bride's family, as it is usually when a woman is given away to her husband. Your country's traditional marriage is similar to that in Africa, especially Nigeria. Your pictures are dated back as far as 2024.

Yes this picture are too old.Thank you.
