"SLC31-W2" // Steem Expedición, Joyas Ocultas y Secretos Locales: Historia y Patrimonio.
Dear Steemian friends,
Hope you are all well. Today I am participating in the second week of the Steem Expedition competition organized by @oswaldocuarta . The main topic of this week is "History and Heritage". One place that embodies our national identity and glorious history is the "Bangladesh National Museum". Today I will show you around this amazing place.

Bangladesh National Museum is the main and largest museum of the country located at Shahbagh intersection, the heart of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Established on November 17, 1913, this historical institution is surrounded by all important establishments such as Dhaka University, Dhaka Medical College, Bangladesh Supreme Court, National Eidgah and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (PG Hospital). This museum is basically a unique repository of our country's glorious history, rich culture, ancient archaeology and diverse nature. Here, from ancient civilizations to the emergence of modern Bangladesh, folk traditions and the correct history of the Liberation War have been beautifully portrayed. It is said that by visiting the National Museum, it is possible to briefly see the whole of Bangladesh within one building, which is an extraordinary educational and inspiring experience for any visitor. The museum was designed by the renowned architect of Bangladesh, Syed Mainul Hossain (who is also the architect of the National Memorial) and his associate architects.

The Folk Art Gallery of the Bangladesh National Museum is a living document of our rural heritage. Upon entering here, one sees all the diverse materials used in the daily lives of the common people, which reveal their extraordinary artistic spirit. Various types of fishing traps made of bamboo and cane such as chai, palo and dula highlight the depth of the rural fishing culture. In addition, various pots decorated with pottery and the appearance of folk houses remind us of our primitive lifestyle. The gallery has specially depicted the lives of people from different parts of Bangladesh; such as the fishermen of the Sundarbans, the jhum farmers of the hills and the busy times of the farmers of the plains. The eternal form of Bengal is preserved here through their clothes, home decoration materials and utensils. These folk arts are not just a sight to behold, they introduce us to our roots and teach us to respect the creativity of ancient craftsmen.

The cultural artifacts of our various groups reflect our rural lives. These artifacts, such as agricultural implements, household items, clothing, and ornaments, give us an idea of the way of life of our ancestors. They reflect the traditions, beliefs, and social values of a region. Folk culture is an important part of our identity, passed down from generation to generation. Preserving these artifacts helps us stay connected to our roots and maintain cultural continuity.

Sculptures, paintings, and other art forms express the imagination and skill of artists. They not only enhance beauty, but also create knowledge and awareness among the visitors. Behind every artwork there is a story, which makes our history more alive and interesting.

The monuments of the Liberation War bring the history of our independence alive. The sacrifice, courage and struggle of the Bengalis in the great Liberation War of 1971 are reflected in these monuments. The weapons used here, the personal belongings of the martyrs, pictures and documents give us a realistic picture of that time. Each monument tells a story that awakens our national consciousness. These are not just memories of the past, but also teach us to understand the value of our independence and inspire future generations with patriotism.

Ancient coins and documents are important evidence of past economic and administrative systems. By looking at coins of different periods, we can learn about the trade, governance and economic conditions of that era. Similarly, old documents reveal the history of our laws, policies and social structures. These materials play an important role in historical research. They are not only valuable collections, but also a powerful means of understanding the past of a country.
