SLC31-W2 | The Curious Explorer : Offbeat Landmarks
For most people, especially Muslims, when embarking on a long journey, a mosque is undoubtedly one of the most essential places to visit. Mosques have become landmarks in Aceh, where almost 100% of the population adheres to Islam. Mosques are places to perform obligatory prayers or simply rest for a moment to relieve fatigue, especially if the journey is long. The numerous mosques along the road make it easy for travelers to find this house of Allah SWT.
One of the mosques that is often used as a place to rest and perform prayers is the Nurul Falah Keude Bungkaih Jamik Mosque. Located on the national crossroad Banda Aceh - Medan Road, Muara Batu District, North Aceh Regency. Its strategic location and being on the Sumatra crossroad makes the Nurul Falah Jamik Mosque a popular stopover for people on long journeys, both from Banda Aceh and Medan. These travelers stop not only to worship, but also take the opportunity to rest for a moment at the mosque.
Facilities within the mosque are also continuously being expanded to provide greater comfort for worshippers. Access to the courtyard and prayer hall is well-established. However, as with most mosques, access for people with disabilities or special needs is not yet available. Such facilities are not available in almost all mosques in Aceh. Ablution facilities, bathrooms, and toilets for men and women are located separately. The main facilities within the mosque appear clean, making it very comfortable for everyone to use.
Likewise, the prayer room appears to be kept clean at all times. The cream-colored ceramic floor glistens with the reflection of the lamps. The mosque's open concept ensures excellent air circulation, keeping it cool even in hot weather. Fans located in every corner keep the air cool and keep worshippers comfortable, without feeling overheated or stuffy. The Nurul Falah Mosque also provides a special room for women, covered with green curtains. Several copies of the Quran can also be seen neatly arranged throughout the mosque.
At the entrance, there's also a donation box for worshippers to donate. Another facility is a rest area outside the front of the mosque. Worshippers can use this area to rest and unwind. The parking area is quite spacious, accommodating many four-wheeled vehicles. The parking area also accommodates many motorcycles, and it has a roof. Worshippers and other visitors needn't worry about praying at the Nurul Falah Keude Bungkaih Grand Mosque.
