One of the most well-known and important medical institutions in the capital of our country, Dhaka, is BIRDEM Hospital. Although it was originally established for the treatment, research, and training of diabetes, it currently provides advanced treatment for various types of complex diseases. Located in the Shahbagh area of ​​the capital, this hospital is playing a special role in the healthcare system of Bangladesh. The hospital is located next to the metro rail station in the Shahbagh area of ​​the capital, Dhaka. Every day, numerous patients receive indoor and outdoor medical services.

BIRDEM Hospital has a glorious history. It was founded by the country's renowned physician and social worker, Dr. Mohammad Ibrahim. His goal was to make the people of the country aware of diabetes and to provide easy access to medical services. As a result of his efforts, this institution, which started on a small scale, is today known as an international standard hospital. BIRDEM's full name is the Bangladesh Institute of Research and Rehabilitation in Diabetes, Endocrine, and Metabolic Disorders. The hospital was built in 1965 by National Professor Dr. Mohammad Ibrahim.

The first thing that struck me upon entering the hospital was its clean environment and orderly system. Even though there was a long line of patients, everything was managed within a specific schedule. Here, from registration to seeing a doctor, everything was done step by step, which was convenient for the patients. There was a separate nurse for each unit. After entering through the main gate, I saw the emergency department and a leaflet with directions.

An important aspect of this hospital is its modern medical equipment. Various types of tests, including advanced laboratory, digital X-ray, ultrasonography, and CT scan, are performed here. As a result, the diagnosis of the disease is possible quickly and accurately. In addition, the nurses and other staff of the hospital are also well-trained and sincere, which further improves the quality of patient care. There are separate units for each disease to provide medical care. There are operation theater and ICU facilities. The entire hospital is air-conditioned, and security is controlled by CCTV cameras.
